final answer

Ideally it should be Dwayne and Miles saved with the Rivals going next :fc:

Dave
Dave, Dave, Dave, where do I start? I wasn't a fan of the whole germaphobe thing because, like, although it made a character actually 3 Dimentional I feel like sometimes it was just really extreme (more than it should be) and just didn't like it. I cant remember much else about him though - didn't he have, like, a showmance or something with Sky but it went horribly wrong?

RileyH 26-12-2017 09:55 AM

He was just boring and moody and sad

Epic. 26-12-2017 09:56 AM

Dave hate is so OTT and he's one of the biggest characters in PI and it astounds me how unpopular he is

Quote:

I personally actually like Dave. While he's kind of been slipping from my positive view lately, I would still say he was intriguing to watch from a psychosis point of view when it came to Skave. I'm also going to be in the really small minority here and say that up until he became in love with Sky, I actually DIDN'T like him like others did. While other people saw a relatable normal person in a cast of crazy people, all I saw was a really annoying buzzkill who just had to give their two cents and ruin the fun for everyone (and he wouldn't stop belieeeeving in Leonard either).

Thankfully Dave eventually became crazy due to becoming obsessed with Sky. Now I don't really need to go into detail about why Skave is so great but the point I will make is that Skave is a series of tragic misunderstandings between two people who started out pretty run of the mill, but then Dave takes his crush too far and tries completely idiotic means to gain her attraction in him that the old Dave wouldn't do at all, while Sky gets herself caught in this crush and is struggling to tell the truth that she has a boyfriend. I thought it was an exceptional plotline, and for a season that some people complain is "unrealistic" I think Skave was actually a perfectly realistic two-sided attraction that gave the saddening viewpoint that yes, some of your attractions will end in a horrible scenario. And you'll probably either be attracted too much, or toy with someone's emotions because your emotions are all over the place. I guess the only issue I do have with Skave is that it almost completely limits what Dave and Sky's actions are throughout the season, much like Topher's interaction with Chris. But considering it's a much better storyline, I can cut it some slack.
I guess people just miss the point of good writing

I used to dislike Dave a lot, given that he's a horrible toxic abomination of a person. But then I had an epiphany when I realized...

That's the point.

Dave's sanity slippage and descent into an increasingly terrible person is actually really interesting and engaging to watch. I don't understand accusations that he was "derailed" because it was actually built up quite well. His skave plot is brilliant because it's almost Total Drama deconstructing itself; it starts off just like things like Zoke and Nemma where it's made blatantly obvious they're going to be a couple, but then spectacularly plays with your expectations. Even when you think you know how things are going to go down he and his plot just end up going even more downhill than before.

I also quite like the irony of the most normal character ending up the most unstable.

That said I'm not exactly his biggest advocate. Sometimes his plot is just too dark to enjoy and he can be hard to watch at times, and he's somewhat grating at some moments.

I'll end this by saying his confessional in the finale is a big canidate for most memorable TDPI line
For those confused, the finale confessional is "I'm gonna make sure Sky wins. This is how all great love stories end; the guy gets the girl, the girl gets the money... that came out wrong :skull: "

I guess it just depends, while you were surprised by Dave's (and Nemma??) plot I just... wasn't. He was labelled as the "nice guy" in some trailers leading up to the release of PI and he made some big deal about how normal and nice he is so when Sky was hesitant about her feelings, I just knew Dave would become entitled and a toxic mess and I just... don't like watching that

I can understand what his character is, but understanding his character and hating him and his traits (and just not enjoying his presence on screen) =/= missing the point of good writing

Ezekiel started off the very first Total Drama season as a bit of a non-factor during his first two and only episodes. Although he seemed to not cause any problems, his sexist comments towards the end of the second episode caused him to be the first camper eliminated over Courtney. Without his stupid comments, he would've definitely survived the first bonfire ceremony as he wasn't anyone's target for elimination. When he came back for Total Drama World Tour, he was much more confident as he kept stating that he won't be eliminated and how he'll win this time around, much to Chris's and Chef's annoyance. However, he was eliminated first again but manages to get back on the plane and "re-enter" the competition after Duncan quits. Ironically, he then becomes the first contestant eliminated from TDWT after his team loses. He then manages to hold on to a part of the plane after he is thrown off and eliminated. During the course of this season, Ezekiel starts appearing more in a gross, mutated state constantly lurking behind different objects. In Heather's ending for the finale, he steals the prize money case by attacking her, and falls into the lava with it. He is trash for this because he ruined the best Total Drama winner's ending </3. After somehow surviving being submerged in lava, he makes various other appearances throughout the next two seasons as a mutated Gollum knockout. In Revenge of the Island, he caused our Anne Maria to quit by giving her a fake diamond </3. Overall, Ezekiel is a character that had potential as a returnee but was just used as an ironic joke. His transformation into a gross mutation was a symbol of how little the writers cared about him. :skull:

Dakotazoid was the worst thing about RoTI by far apart from Mike and Scott's horrible existence. And btw can someone please nom Dakota soon?? She's so overrated despite getting one of the worst plot twists in the history of the show

Epic. 26-12-2017 06:08 PM

Glenn save Miles and cut Pete please!

The girl was complex from a few episodes, way more developed and human than anyone in the ROTI cast. Her mutation was a slap in the face to everyone and was a stupid way of establishing that Dakota could be happy with who she was inside and that she could be loved for who she was inside ESPECIALLY when Sam was doing just that... And Sam just ended up finding her appearance beautiful anyway (which isn't problematic or bad and it's cute but it takes away what I imagine they were going for)

Gerry and his partner were a pair contestants that already looked like elimination fodder. I like how they were older contestants because it was new for Total Drama to incorporate different ages into a series. Gerry in particular seemed like the more spontaneous one of the two. He was less moral than Pete, even pushing Pete off a zip line in the first episode. He was also the reason why they were eliminated as one of his feet were outside of the carpet, to which he argued with Chris about. Overall, Gerry was a slightly crazy but one-note character that was never meant to be a big contribution to the series.

I will get this updated tonight hopefully.

Glenn seems really lovely and I had to bad-talk a Heather stan but he hates Courtney AND he hasn't voted in these past 2 days so honestly?? What am I to think

Morgan. 30-12-2017 03:51 PM

If I'm correct I need writups for Tammy and Amy AND need Glenn to turn up?

Ant. 01-01-2018 12:55 AM

well this is going swimmingly

69. Tammy
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20170201123807

Tammy and her LARPing team are okay enough characters. It's great to have a team like this be a human shield for teams to prosper in the future as a result; even the Tennis Rivals and Geniuses got some kind of development to an extent. But the LARPers were used simply for a comic relief first boot and for how they did it, it was still pretty funny. Tammy doesn't really speak that much but when she was doing something I actually quite liked it; like trying to do a ~TIME REVERSAL SPELL~ when her team came in last, or physically assaulting the Goths and the Adversity Twins and Leonard with confetti. But since I don't really dislike that many Total Drama characters to begin with, and seeing as I don't have as much strong feelings for her as others, it's unfortunately her time.
