A good decision and hopefully a wise one

There were already families pushed into food poverty with those who could help donating to food banks. With a 33% cut in wages who's going to help those that were helping? And what's going to happen to those who were being helped?

It''s a rubbish unwise decision that hopefully he'll backtrack on as soon as the implications of what he's done are spelt out to him.

Incredibly proud of Marcus. Shame there’s no crowds because he deserves to be shown appreciation by everyone around the country for his efforts. The less said about this pathetic and evil government the better.

They're not making things up, they still cover what actually happens  it's better than drudging through the Mail or Guardian...

But of course they were just being cautious with money, that’s the same Tory MP that suggested unemployed people should be sterilised, but no, they definitely don’t have a bitter contempt for the lower classes and their offspring

They still put a spin on the facts ...a satirical one. I'm bored of trying to explain why these aren't news. It's not better it's just a different. Spitting image is covering what's happening politically is that news? :/

Wow he just shot himself in the foot there... haven't we had 10yrs of tory rule? Where's the safeguarding been that's allowed kids to be raised in crack dens and brothels?
Where are the police in this crime ridden city? Why are these parents who can't read not being supported?... it's stats like that that prove beyond doubt austerity has failed so well done Ben! !

Shame it's always on the public to step up when failed by our government. ..but we won't vote for change so we don't have a choice do we?

It's good the public do Kizzy.

However it's annoying that it's clear it's needed, yet while this rotten and heartless government ignore and vote down the help that's needed.
That there's anyone that would support them in that.

Even at this time in a pandemic with all its uncertainty, still there they are, those who are happy to support the cruelty of this particular government.

Because no other government would have got away with it.
The media themselves would have splashed over their front pages, likely the photos and names of any MPs denying children this.

I despair for England.
Where a strong number, not an absolute majority are able to inflict such a detestable and cruel government on all Nations of the UK.
It's grossly wrong and this broken political system needs to be rid of it's unrepresentative outcomes, which should be unacceptable in any decent democracy.

They shouldn’t have to...

Ammi 24-10-2020 06:01 AM

...this was the ‘Great’ we were aiming for, was it....to make us great again in a way that one young man can be more of a shining example of humankind than our complete Government made up of elected representatives ...when our school children are asked who their heroes are...the face of Marcus Rashford will be what they see and think of...the public and charities are only ‘helping’ because the government have failed our children....and it isn’t ‘helpful’ to feed a child, it’s essential...In relying on others, ‘others’ won’t always be able to be relied on because ‘others’ are losing incomes as well or having them reduced and that’s going to impact on charities also...knowing there are people already only having a percentage of their income, we’re okay with that percentage being reduced still further to help the children that the government won’t ..I have no idea why it was so ‘essential’ to leave the EU to save all of this money to ‘help our own’ in the ways that ‘our own’ needed help...only to say, well hang on, what about the charities...what about someone else, anybody else but not us...

...the governing body of shame...Marcus Rashford, though.....his picture drawn under the heading of HERO in many schools/classrooms...

I agree.

It is shameful.
It should be really infuriating that an elected government would even think of voting this down, never mind actually do so.

Defence of them can be dressed up all they like and by their supporters unbelievably.
With everything they say it's always taken out of context yet these MPs never seem to think before they speak even going forwards.

It was a callous, heartless act by all those CONSERVATIVE MPs who voted against this.

Yes, it's wonderful to see Councils and businesses doing this and individuals.

However that should never let this rotten and cold heartless government off the hook on this at all.
Those who do ....... well actually I'd best leave it there.

It was a cold, unnecessary and heartless act by the government which shows their real hard-line and lack of decent thought.
Pure and simply.

Liam- 24-10-2020 08:50 AM

This is why they keep doing awful things like this, because they know there are good people out there that won’t allow their cruel, callous actions to affect the most vulnerable, especially children, it shouldn’t be down to the public to use their own money to do something we pay tax for, it’s a disgrace
