She could also quite feasibly have slipped in and out completely anonymously if she WAS wearing a mask - mandatory masks must be great for celebs who don't want to be recognised. A nice big facemask and a baseball cap and an A-lister could have a wander round Tesco without anyone batting an eye.

she will have been vaccinated so no need

I'm assuming you actually know this is false/unknown at this point.

True and though while it's a crowded place, thinking about it logically, it's very unlikely that members of the public actually got close to Kate. The picture makes it look like there are people nearby but it's probably forced-perspective for effect (like all those "crowded beach" pictures last summer).

Just more press dishonesty, I guess.

From a PR perspective though I'm surprised she wasn't wearing one anyway.

To be honest the tv footage yesterday showed her brushing past people .. at one point even squeezing between two people ... I was more stunned at the poor security more than her not wearing a mask

Not going to lie it is sus and were I a more cynical person I might think designed to demonstrate that "Kate has freedom, see?". I don't know. Something feels off.

...I’m thinking that the security would have been there but just in a less visible way and she may have had some kind of alarm button or whatever fitted to her person/in her clothing etc...security was something that would create some difficulty because it could appear intimidating, which would go against everything that was being expressed in the vigil...I do agree that a ‘best practice’ mask would have been the better way for her to be seen...

...it has been reported that this was a PR exercise as well but it’s also ‘very Kate’, I think...it’s very representative of the person she is so I’m going to put the PR thing down to ‘over cynical social media’...I do believe that she tried to remain discreet...as discreet as a Royal can be...and as discreet as the media are portraying while putting her on every front page...

The vaccine is not 100% effective and there is no data on whether or not vaccinated people are 100% immune, only that it massively reduces positive test rates and severe illness, whether or not vaxed people can still be asymptomatic carries has not been researched yet, and Kate is in a demographic that has a high likelihood of not being at personal risk of severe symptoms but could easily still be carrier. Lots of at-risk people in the family.

She would have been more discreet (potentially unidentifiable) in a mask though which is what makes something about it feel slightly off, to me. Put her in jogging clothes, a large face covering and tied back hair and I swear she could have jogged right through the crowd without anyone being any the wiser. On top of that, usually when we've seen William and Kate in public recently, they HAVE been wearing masks (including outdoors) so why choose not to wear one, for the first time, whilst trying hard to be discreet? I'm not trying to make conspiracy theories per se but in some ways it doesn't add up.

she would have arrived in a limo with a team of heavies, so i don't buy the narrative that she didn't wear a mask so she was recognised. It would be the easiest thing in the world to highlight that a "special" visitor was there. That being said, there is no requirement to wear a mask out doors, so i don't know why everyone is getting their knickers knotted

...I don’t really disagree with you with most of what you say, TS...I guess I’m just trying to not form too many thoughts if I’m honest, just because I’m trying to keep my head more about it all being about Sarah, you know....it’s just really difficult, though...

...nobody is getting knotted about any of it, bots...we all know that wearing a mask outdoors isn’t a requirement ...but in crowded outdoor situations/gatherings such as that, mask wearing would indicate a best practice that would have been good to see...that’s a fair and reasoned observation, surely...

I have to go into London this week for a hospital thing, I'm half tempted to wear big mask, sunglasses, and a cap to see if anyone thinks I'm a celeb on the DL

Though I'm more likely to look like a terrorist or school shooter than celeb...

That's my main issue with Kate being there. I find it sad that the headlines are about her and not about Sarah. Kate was doing a heartfelt thing it seems but it has now become about her being there and not just about Sarah.

If she had been jogging with a mask on she would have stood out a mile.

Beso 14-03-2021 01:14 PM

Maybe she didnt wear the mask so she would be seen and recognised. Maybe she did this to highlight the male on female violence issues the whole thing was about.

Ridiculous when we are still supposed to be careful ,but yes lets blame the police for trying to keep the angry mob safe. What were they supposed to do let people run riot ,and spread the virus regardless of other peoples safety.

Who was running riot? from what I saw it was a peaceful day of people mourning and paying their respects. Yes they really shouldn't have been there but whatever affects that is going to have on the pandemic would've happened regardless of the police showing up to push and shove them around and do nothing but cause further gatherings like the one today.
