I’m just pleased for the Swiss who played some lovely stuff and especially for Granit Xhaka who had a load of criticism sent his way last season

I think Germany has a good chance of winning it.

Crimson Dynamo 29-06-2021 03:04 PM

England manager Gareth Southgate has named his team to face Germany, including three central defenders Kyle Walker, John Stones and Harry Maguire.

The inclusion of Kieran Trippier and Luke Shaw suggests that Southgate will use them as wing-backs or wide midfielders. Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips will provide solidity in midfield.

Attacking threat will be provided by Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling as expected, with the Bukayo Saka completing the side rather than Phil Foden or Jack Grealish.

The teams in full
England: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Trippier, Phillips, Rice, Shaw, Saka, Kane, Sterling. Subs: Grealish, Henderson, Rashford, Ramsdale, Mings, Coady, Sancho, Mount, Foden, Johnstone, James, Bellingham.

Germany: Neuer, Ginter, Hummels, Rudiger, Kimmich, Kroos, Goretzka, Gosens, Havertz, Muller, Werner. Subs: Halstenberg, Volland, Gnabry, Leno, Musiala, Sule, Neuhaus, Sane, Gundogan, Trapp, Can, Koch.

Referee: Danny Makkelie (Holland)

Absolute rubbish Southgate, our bench is stronger than our starting lineup

i had the same thought. How foden can be left out after the season he has had is beyond me. Grealish and Sancho, who plays against these folks every week (very successfully)
