The dancing was exquisite from Israel's entry.

But tbf I think that most of them were decent.

Of the ones that went through I really liked Serbia, Finland, and Croatia.

Czechia I thought were weaker compared to the recorded version.

And Sweden was by the numbers for me, I think it's only a contender because Loreen is the one singing it, there are better entries in the competition imo.

I'm pretty happy about it actually, the song was ****e but also I didn't like the way they fired their choreographer a few weeks back because of a few tweets he sent (one because he called a "trans" rapist a man.)

i voted for Croatia, such a EPIC FUN Quirky crowdpleasing comedic take on a anti-war song and the pyro's from the missiles, what a show

also those vocals :worship:

fun fact: Let 3 are a very very well known, famous act in their country, won many awards for some of their other work

Moldova my 2nd favourite, 3 minutes of pure fun and tribal moldovan folk, the dwarf is Pasha's friend too btw, since his bachelor party, and the flute is a traditional moldovan instrument

my faves being announced as first two qualifiers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

out of qualifiers

i only would've swapped Norway with Malta, and Switzerland with Azerbaijan

but native language winning :flutter:

some of the worst vocals of the night, alongside Sweden (screechy Loreen) and Israel (Noa is HOT and a phenomenal dancer but a singer she ain't)

Norway's Alessandra was a bit pitchy in places too

Nicky91 10-05-2023 08:32 AM

Nicky's preview show of Semi 2

Denmark:
Quote:

very likeable guy, in the song we have BTS k-pop vibes similarities to dynamite, vocals are not for everyone but there is an audience for this

also first faroese singer in ESC
Armenia
Quote:

very attractive lady, some imaginary armenian - Begu, Dugu, Lugu and also some actual armenian phrases near the end for a dramatic finish

very classy entry
Romania
Quote:

performed in romanian and some english, bit of a romanian maneskin vibe for me, although you notice his inexperience by far too

however he is very sympathetic, loveable
Estonia
Quote:

piano ballad by the ''Arcade'' composer Wouter Hardy, very jury friendly although if that was a smart choice in a 100% televote semi
Belgium
Quote:

music has george michael, 90's house vibes, looks wise belgian boy george vibes

is a fun song, and it has a Vogue dancer
Cyprus
Quote:

very plastic, swedish ''melfest'' pop ballad, nothing authentic towards cyprus about this at all, performed by a australian singer with some cypriot roots
Iceland
Quote:

this is very Iceland 2017 meets Armenia 2019, not bad but missing a lot of things to make it any good of a performance

also vocally very wannabe Sia-ish, and wannabe more as it's not very good
Greece
Quote:

new talented 16 yr old singer-songwriter, own composition too of both music and lyrics, strong lewis capaldi, ed sheeran, dean lewis vibes

very jury friendly
Poland
Quote:

very enjoyable summer bop, shaky vocals in places but she compensates that with a very great performance and having huge meme potential, BEJBA ITS KAINDA KRAJZA

very good looking either, probably has that from her mom a former model, and Blanka works as model herself too, been on polish's next top model

her dad is bulgarian, works as a casino owner in poland and owns a news tabloid too
Slovenia
Quote:

slovene new wave rock by recent winners of best slovenian song ''Gola'' in last years national music awards there

they also recently worked with the legend of new wave Elvis Costello

contenders to win the semi
Georgia
Quote:

very quirky, very ethnic in instrumentals, nice playing with english words and making some english words of her own

Iru was part of their Junior Eurovision winning act in 2011, Candy and was one of last years Junior Eurovision composers for Mariam Bigvava's I Believe
San Marino
Quote:

solid rock song with decently catchy lyrics for san marino standards, is last place in semi odds but with a semi this open, you never know

it are good vocals, and there is an audience for this but with similar rock songs here might make them come across underwhelming
Austria
Quote:

tribute to american poet Edgar Allan Poe with this instant earwurm crowdpleasing bop by two very quirky lovely ladies

this instantly makes you want to get up and dance along

contains few italian words
Albania
Quote:

very traditional balkan ballad, which turns into bit more midtempo song

Albina is the main star with her family (mom, dad, sister, brother) also singing and dancing along

it is quite a lovely thing to see
Lithuania
Quote:

english lyrics give you Ylva & Linda Africa Song Contest composition vibes, but with two lovely lithuanian words which are very earwurm and uplifting

very soulful
Australia
Quote:

80's synth rock vibes all over and what a way to close the show with such a super solid banger, this is australia at its best with a capital b

Danny (lead vocalist) is also incredibly charismatic of a performer

first rock, and later on in the song some heavy metal vibes

with nice pyro's and even a car on stage
.

joeysteele 10-05-2023 08:42 AM

I didn't mind the song for the Republic of Ireland.
The performance wasn't too good though.

For me however, there's worse through than Ireland.
A shame that.

UK's Eurovision singer who 'hates' Britain applies for German passport so she
can live in Spain

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/K1...5a928420d3dd60

Mae Muller - the extreme left-wing "activist" picked by the BBC who will represent the UK
in Eurovision on Saturday - has applied for a German passport as "it means we
can live in Spain".

The singer, who previously tweeted "I hate this country" over a free school
meals row, said she wants to do well in the competition but doesn't regret her
controversial comments about Britain.

In a series of extreme tweets from 2020, Muller also branded the
Conservative Party “racist and elitist” while campaigning for hard left ex-
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

And while former Prime Minister Boris Johnson fought for his life in hospital
with Covid, she wrote: “Unpopular opinion but I do not feel sorry for him.

“Yes, he is human, yes, he has kids, but so do 100s of other people who have
actually died due to Tory policies. Taking up a bed in intensive care but
you’re not on a ventilator and in ‘high spirits’? Nah mate.”

According to the singer, her surname is from her grandfather Robert, a Jew

who fled Germany for Britain during World War II.

Simple to see why the BBC chose her.

Can't we call Sam Ryder? See if he can come up with a tune by Saturday.

jet 10-05-2023 10:22 AM

Favourites of the night were Portugal and Switzerland, that guy has a great voice. Liked Moldova too.
A shame Azerbaijan didn't get through, I loved it.
The Swedish performance was too OTT for me. Calm down Loreen. :hee:

Denver 10-05-2023 10:36 AM

That's great because she speaks all the European languages fluently

bots 10-05-2023 12:45 PM

ive just been thinking, with so many ukranians now living across europe in their millions, they can affect the vote in just about every country

yeah a shame Loreen was always gonna qualify

i couldn't understand a word of what she was singing other than Tattoo :joker:

and also quite awful vocals, don't get why she's hyped that much in the odds (couldn't either back in 2012)

best ones for me personally were

Croatia: so much fun and vocals for that genre were pretty good, especially in the croatian alphabet section, almost croatian bohemian rhapsody :clap1: gorgeous

Moldova: genuine fun, moldova always knows how to stage these kind of acts so well

Israel: her singing okay but that dancing was total knockout and she looks sexy and the phenome, phenome, phenomenal parts are so catchy

i ended up also voting Croatia because our commentators were trashing it and singling it out as the only bad performance and they were pretending as if Mia & Dion had perfect vocals :laugh3:

Vanessa 10-05-2023 01:15 PM

Can't wait for tomorrow. We can finally vote!
Hope the line up is good.

Vanessa 10-05-2023 01:16 PM

If I had been allowed to, my vote would have definitely gone for Loreen. I think she's fantastic.

Crimson Dynamo 10-05-2023 01:23 PM

Its all one big hoax anyway as last year showed id imagine the winners for this year have already been decided based on who can afford to host?

there are a couple of hunks in tomorrow's

Cyprus's Andrew

Australia's Danny (but all other male members of Voyager are decently looking too, and their female guitarist Simone is very sympathetic, suffers from migrain but doesn't stop her from having fun with the band)

San Marino's italian rock band Piqued Jacks those guys are good looking as well

umm no

last year was just that majority of people had lots of sympathy for Ukraine, understandable of course (to me Stefania was a enjoyable anthemic fun song so i didn't complain against their win and UK was a well deserved runner up)

Nicky91 11-05-2023 08:44 AM

indeed Mock

tonight semi 2, glad i have one show i can more sit back and be a nicer judge without having to be too serious into who i will vote for, as we aren't voting this semi (i do have some favourites here though)

Albania, Australia, Belgium, Poland

and in terms of Poland, hope all of you tibbers will also be loving BEJBA her slayage summer bop performance

-------------------------
btw fun facts on Serbia's Luke Black, he studied at Universities in London apparently, and his stage surname ''black'' stands for the decade which was the death of the old serbian music scene also to hide his real surname ivanovic, coming from a extremely rich family, hence why he was able to go off to prestigious uni's in london

Nicky91 11-05-2023 08:55 AM

most views on youtube of semi 1: Croatia

:clap1: :clap1:

the flavour of my music taste :flutter:

Vanessa 11-05-2023 09:55 AM

Tonight we can vote. So excited
