My gay cousin and his partner of nearly 20 years have just had a civil partnership, the money they spent was unreal ,VERY flamboyant ,if it were me I would rather spend that money on a brilliant holiday ,nothing changed with their lives ,so it seems money they could have spent elsewhere, but at the end of the day ,it was theri money and they spent it as they wished

Yes there is that too, weddings now are so expensive, and even after all that some don't last.

I don't think getting married is something I'd want to spend heaps of money on - I'd just have a civil ceremony and maybe go out for a nice dinner with the people who matter afterwards, none of this 4-5 figure sum nonsense.

Very sensible Zee and you end up being just as happy as if you got married.

Yeah, I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of inviting people/seating plans/planning dinner/speeches/hiring venues....... much easier to have a civil ceremony to get the deed done and that be that. It's what my parents did, my mum didn't have a wedding dress or any of that.

My mother never went with the crowd and thought spending money on a wedding was bull****.

She made her own dress and I have to be honest she looked like sh!t lol.

And just think of all the stress people go through organising a wedding and having to invite people they don't really like,LOL.

Plus the agony of waiting for responses to invitations to see if someones bringing a plus 1.

God I need a drink!

Jezzy 06-01-2014 07:51 PM

Haha, love you all. Why do you have to do that sh** to prove you love someone? I got married in black with 13 guests. Unsurprisingly I divorced.

Oh GOD I couldn't even handle that, I can just imagine my parents wanting people invited, my brother wanted people invited... no, not having any of that nonsense if I ever get married!

Doesn't show much progression does it.

So being gay and of a certain race do kind of go hand in hand. Both have gone through hell in the past.

That's extremely ignorant. It's like saying being born abled is the same as being born disabled because you're born when there's clearly a physical or mental difference. Don't you dare compare the struggles of blacks, Jews, and other oppressed races to being gay and not being able to marry and adopt. You'll reply but I'm done with this thread now.
