I see nothing homophobic in that tweet. Absolutely nothing. Can you describe to me exactly how that tweet is homophobic? Use long words, I can handle it. |

In this case word *** was clearly intended to be used as insult, even if jokingly, still an insult. In Danny's case, tweet was unclear if friend is indeed gay and Danny's stating that (which is then okay) or he's straight and Danny's making similar illconceived "banter" as Marc does here. |
I'm pretty sure he's not a homophobe (and I said the same about Danny FYI), especially considering he was good friends with Simon, but this is yet another dickish tweet to add to the ever-growing list of dickish tweets from those two.

it's all about context

Imo people are way too sensitive about these sort of words, someone using these words does not make them homophobic, the context in which they are used makes the person homophobic and the words offensive.
And I said the exact same thing in the thread about Danny as well, before anyone jumped on the 'you'd defend Marc even if he killed someone blah blah blah' bandwagon. |

Homophobia is a state of a mind in which a person dislikes all gay people and I have seen zero evidence that any of the three are guilty of this. To answer your other question, it is obviously a homophobic slur, using it publicly is homophobic even if it is used to define a heterosexual friend who may or may not be a ****** depending on whether he did or he did not go to the local nightclub on that night (I mean obviously lol, think about it.) In other words, the word is always homophobic but the person using it may not be. |

Never heard that one before. Quote:

At 29 years of age, you'd think a man would be educated... saying it for the sake of lad lingo or w.e he wants to defend it as is just as bad as saying it offensively.
and yes I do not approve of Nikki or whoever else saying these slurs either. |

Makes no sense. If you agree that neither Danny or Marc is a homophobe then why even bother dissecting their tweets. |

A homophobic slur is always homophobic. Um. |

just more people that need to go back to politically-correct-ville |

Unless you subscribe to the "He was using Simon as an ally" theory, which makes very little logical sense considering he had very little to gain from befriending Simon when the whole house was against him (especially when he's taking the heat off Marc). And then there's the fact that Marc regularly says outrageous, controversial things, I'm sure any genuine bigotry against gay people would have come out in the house by now. Saying a stupid word and genuinely hating gay people are two very different things. |

If I call my hetero mate a "******" during some banter then it isn't anyone's business, including gay people. Why are people queuing up to be offended? |
