I really like the songs of all the four girls in the UK's selection. Especially Salena's.

Babayaro. 23-01-2017 07:09 PM

All are fairly good tbh, but nothing special really.

1. Salena
2. Lucie
3. Nate
4. Danyl
5. Holly
6. Olivia

I'd be happy with any of the top 4 representing us tbh, but I expect it to be a similar result to last year's.

The BBC has confirmed that an eight person jury will have a 50% say in who will represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. The jury will be made up of five music professionals as well as the previously announced panelists who will be giving live feedback during the final. On the panel are:

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Singer and songwriter known for her 2001 release “Murder on the Dance Floor”. Has released six studio albums and toured around Europe.
Bruno Tonioli – Italian choreographer and dancer, known for being a judge on Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing With The Stars (USA). Was also a panelist at the United Kingdom’s 2010 selection.
CeCe Sammy – Vocal and performance coach, she was the chairperson for the United Kingdom’s jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. She awarded her 12 points to Cyprus in the final.

All really rather beige tbh. Danyl or Salina are probably the better entrants.

Danny Beard from BGT was in the running with a banger but wasn't shortlisted </3

Just listening now.

Nate's - pretty. Might pick up a few votes but sounds too similar to Joe&Jake in terms of the song's progression. Wouldn't do very well. I like him and his voice though. 5/10.

Lucie's - A lot more "what Eurovision would vote for" if the song actually went anywhere. This could've been a clear winner if it had that sort of dark electronic vibe that you've seen from Margaret Berger etc, but now it's just a bit too... 'lifted from a musical'. 5/10. Do they not bother with any actual music production?

Danyl's - There's a hint at this actually being catchy but it's too underplayed (the chorus buildup) and his voice doesn't really go with the song at all. 4/10... I don't mind it but I don't think it'd do well at all.

Salena's - OK this sounds a lot more "current Eurovision". I worry about her vocals but it's relatively catchy. Oh nvm the chorus just came about and it's really quite average. 6/10.

Holly's - Liking the build-up to the chorus. Oh the chorus is quite nice too. This might be my pick? Her voice seems stronger than Salena's too. Lyrics a little naff though. 7/10

Olivia's - She probably has the best "look" about her, but I don't know if she'd command a stage. Song's got the right sort of vague political theme that Europe lap up but doesn't really go anywhere. 5/10.

I think we're doomed anyway what with the Brexit vote. Can we not let Radio 1 take over this selection process? Radio 2 in general are far too safe and tedious.

Lucie's song was co-written by Emilie DeForest. Could sit well with Eurovision voters?

Ugh, I would've supported him :(

Denver 27-01-2017 11:50 PM

The bookies have Montenegro at 7/2 to win

Denver 27-01-2017 11:51 PM

That really surprises me with their track record

Benjamin 28-01-2017 12:17 PM

I don't get why people are saying this Lucie song is good? It's literally so bland and forgettable. If we are any position but the last few we will defo struggle to get any points. No dig to lucie, she has a nice voice but the song is so dull.

That is why we should have sent Olivia he had a nice uptempo beat to it

No because it's bland as ****. I love how people are comparing it to Ukraines winning song last year. Yes I see the similarities; A song against the struggles of deportation and protecting a family and a song about keeping a boyfriend.

Firewire 28-01-2017 12:24 PM

Lucie has Emmelie's backing but I don't know if it means much

I liked her song though

It's a better than 2015 and 2016s entry by far. A ballad song isn't such a bad thing. Jade Ewen did good, ballads do good in eurovision too, Dami Im came 2nd with it. It would have been embarrassing if we went Selena whose vocals were awful.

Benjamin 28-01-2017 12:28 PM

Just once I would like us to send something worthy of even attempting to win. I swear since 1998 we've just given up

2000, 2009 and 2001 were good

A ballad is totally fine, but this is not a memorable ballad. It's honestly so forgettable. Especially against so many other songs.

Denver 28-01-2017 12:29 PM

We would have been fighting for the win in 2011 if Blue had better live vocals

Ross. 28-01-2017 12:29 PM

Jade Ewen's success is probably a lot to do with her actually promoting it across Europe before the contest

Ross. 28-01-2017 12:30 PM

Lucie is amazing though so wash your mouth out Ben

Denver 28-01-2017 12:30 PM

We should send Jedward next year it would get us top 10

Oh she is good, don't get me wrong. But this song is not the way. It will be so overlooked.
