Again...there is protein in veg.

An average adult female needs 45g of protein per day. 100g of Brocolli (a HIGHER protein veg) has 3g of protein in it... In full, raw, unjuiced form. To be getting JUST your daily maintenance intake you would need to be juicing nearly 2 kilos of Brocolli. Every day. For reference; that's six whole heads of Brocolli. Or you could do like 10 full bags of spinach?

If it's just about losing weight...can I suggest binging on shooozed up lentil soup at 2 am.

Chicken goujons in crispy coating, delicately grilled lattice pomme de terre, and a side of legumes in a sweet tomato coulis.

.... Chicken nuggets, waffles and baked beans :joker:

Until her muscles atrophy because of protein deficiency and she collapses in a heap of apples and spinach in the ASDA car park :worry:

Out of interest how would I on a say 1500 cal a day diet get 45g of protein?

Two eggs will get you 25-30g, very low calorie if you only eat the whites (not exactly tasty though). Chicken/turkey and tuna (or white fish like cod, especially if limiting salt intake) are roughly 25g per 150 calories.

Basically a couple of eggs and a chicken breast / bit of fish is plenty and under 500 even if you eat the yolks.

Veggie is harder, especially if you don't have dairy, because the best non-meat protein sources are also high calorie (cheese, nuts, etc).

Kizzy 10-03-2020 11:54 PM

Don't want to rely too heavily on eggs and meat, might have to be fish, nuts and veg.

A hearty Tibb debate burns thousands of calories. Throwing things around the room, vigorously shaking the monitor, getting up and stomping around... All good exercise.

The wife gets half a boned / skinned cod and cuts it into pieces .. steamed cod ,mash potatoes and carrots ( plus a dash of pepper) is dreamy

I also have a load of different ground up nuts in my daily smoothie ( NutraBullett ) along with a banana, apple , spinach and turmeric ..

5 oz of cooked salmon has 36grms of protein and 240 cals, if you like fish you should have no issue getting your protein in, in a low cal diet

Yeah best low calorie options are white fish and egg whites. Any fish is good but Tuna and Salmon arent as good as cod etc because of higher salt content (if restricting salt intake for blood pressure or whatever)
