You seem to be trying to justify what Smith did and suggesting that Rock brought the attack on himself. That's how it's coming across.

If Rock's joke would have been 10x more offensive than what it was then Rock still wouldn't have done anything that justified being slapped on live television. Rock is the victim here.

But Rock didn't make a bad choice or decision. Smith did though. So you're half right.

That’s not the opinion of the majority

But they're the cancel culture people so they're bound to go for that take. They're the enemy of freedom. They work for people who want to strip our freedoms, enslave and control us.

Niamh. 30-03-2022 07:29 PM

It doesn't really matter what the public think, the fact of the matter is Chris Rock could have pressed charges against Will for hitting him, Will however could not have pressed charges against Chris for telling a joke about his wife.

bots 30-03-2022 07:46 PM

quite often public opinion is skewed in the wrong direction. Everyone talks the big talk about removing gender stereo types and here we have the majority of the americans applauding when toxic masculinity is on show

Also high risk of self-injury with a closed fist punch.

Slapping is also seen as a way of degrading your weaker opponent. A bullies tactic.

Crimson Dynamo 30-03-2022 07:57 PM

in my lifetime/ way of being brought up, slapping was what girls did

no man would resort to that

its embarrassing

It's definitely a thing, like Parmnion said it's kind of a degrading thing. Nate Diaz the UFC fighter does it all the time during his fights like a kind of a baity thing, he calls it the Stockton Slap [emoji28]

bots 30-03-2022 08:02 PM

a good old fashioned punch are even better, a headbutt would have immortalised Will

Crimson Dynamo 30-03-2022 08:07 PM

lets see Will slap someone who can slap him back...

oh wait

he wont

:skull:

Yes, that's mine

Beso 30-03-2022 08:16 PM

I thought the worst thing about it all was the awkward silence for about a minute after it..I'm cringing for Chris even typing that.

He should have flew at him tbh, that would have been a natural action if you can back up your words. Chris rock did none of this.

Smith new this, that's why he just bitch slapped him. (Excuse the term, but it's the best way to describe it because the term comes from the way a husband in certain areas discipline their wives)..that's where the humiliation comes in. When you bitch slap another man, you are saying to him, this is how I beat my women.

will smith was asked to leave the oscars after the incident, but refused to go

So instead they invited him on stage and awarded him with one of the big 5 Oscars.

"Mr Smith, we'd like you to leave the building"

"**** you! Do you know who I am?"

"Oh yeah, sorry about that Mr Smith, enjoy the rest of your evening"

It probably went something like that.

Alf 31-03-2022 02:37 AM

It was fitting that he did go back on the stage to get his award because they say that a criminal always returns to the scene of their crime.

bots 31-03-2022 03:32 AM

i think they probably didnt want to drag him out live on tv, but they could have waited until an ad break and forced him to leave

Yes, make him leave in the Commercial Break
that would have been sensible.

Someone else could have taken his Oscar
on his behalf.

There is footage of smith being comforted by the producers during the break.

So let me get this straight , you would rather see Will Smith punch or headbutt just because he's a 'man' ??!. Yet if he did DO that ,then he would have caused bloodshed & probably serious injury and probably hated even more :crazy: . That literally makes no sense & if anything just reinforces the toxic masculinity.

I actually think if he punched, or headbutted Chris Rock then security guards would have removed him from the building, or something similar . And someone else would have to accept his Oscar . The fact it was a quick slap is probably why he was still allowed to stay. He was only asked to leave.
