Can’t stand Lineker….he is so full of himself arrogant and cocky. He will be loving them all coming out in support of him..gonna have a bigger head than ever…:fist:

The BBC need to backdown and apologize for their actions here.
They have no right to suspend someone for having an opinion, it's not a dictatorship. I care about freedom of speech, it's honestly a shame that the BBC doesn't. |

The director general, Tim Davie, has made impartiality a key platform of his leadership. Davie has previously said: "If you want to be an opinionated columnist or a partisan campaigner on social media then that is a valid choice, but you should not be working or representing the BBC." The BBC's editorial guidelines state: "Where individuals identify themselves as being linked with the BBC, or are programme makers, editorial staff, reporters or presenters primarily associated with the BBC, their activities on social media have the potential to compromise the BBC's impartiality and to damage its reputation." Lineker's Twitter account has 8.7m followers. So he has a huge platform. That's why the BBC's editorial guidelines also say that people with platforms have a greater responsibility to uphold impartiality. (source BBC) |
The BBC’s remit says it is “committed to achieving due impartiality in all its output” and that “this commitment is fundamental to our reputation, our values and the trust of audiences”.
As for Twitter use, it says: “The external activities and public comments, for example on social media, of staff, presenters and others who contribute to our output can also affect perceptions of the BBC’s impartiality.” The BBC also has specific rules over the use of social media for all employees, including freelancers. These are: Always behave professionally, treating others with respect and courtesy at all times: follow the BBC’s values Don’t bring the BBC into disrepute If your work requires you to maintain your impartiality, don’t express a personal opinion on matters of public policy, politics, or ‘controversial subjects’ (as defined by Ofcom) Don’t criticise your colleagues in public. Respect the privacy of the workplace and the confidentiality of internal announcements Gary Lineker has previously argued that he is a freelance sports presenter and added that the BBC rules "only apply to people in news and current affairs". |
The BBC hasn't been impartial for ages.
It's hypocritical. The BBC long ago lost any real moral high ground. |

Alex Scott
The former Lionesses star is among the front-runners to take Lineker's place, having made a positive impression since breaking onto TV screens as a pundit and presenter. Spending most of her career with Arsenal and racking up 140 international appearances in the process, she certainly has the footballing pedigree under her belt, as well as a portfolio of BBC presenting roles including Sports Personality of the Year and guest appearances on The One Show. She did, however, HINT via social media on Friday night that she would not consider the role. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Alex Scott has it seems too has said no to presenting Match of the Day.

I'd love to see a strong backlash now against the BBC.
I'm fed up of the BBC, have been for years and it's dinosaur tax of a licence fee. For WHAT. All the bias it shoves at the viewing public. |

Ok, so Alex Scott is a "queen" for saying "no thank you" to MOTD. But women fighting for women's rights are transphobic extreme right wingers?
Interesting. Fwiw, im sure you don't know much, if anything about her presenting football and punditry skills, well i'll tell you honestly, she isn't a bad person, but she's annoying and mostly wrong. But she gets the job for 3 reasons, she ticks boxes at the far right BBC. Black, Woman, Gay. You will read that as me hating her, being a right wing racist etc. But the fact of the matter is, if ANYONE was good at a job, their race and sexuality don't mean a thing to me. |
|
it's going to highlight the extent of left wing bias at the bbc, something we have all known to be true for years
|
Oh yes, the suspending of a critic of the right wing, fascist government and the cancelling of an episode of a David Attenborough documentary so the right wingers don’t get offended, definitely highlights a left wing bias, it’s like you enjoy being delusional
|
It's more right wing bias at the BBC.
None of their main political programmes have anything other than a staunch Con leaning supporter as presenter. Kuenssberg, Bruce and Coburn who all often don't hide their bias. That's fair enough but they cannot be seen as being really impartial. Not at all. |
unusual he is best pals with the racist Danny Baker?
