…did I have a post removed so my second post doesn’t make sense and follow…

Ammi 02-11-2024 07:07 AM

…so anyway……I’m looking forward to some continued great and interesting perceptions gives about Ali and all of the housemates from two great posters……it’s been a good season and that should continue through until the final ….

Ammi 02-11-2024 07:13 AM

@Garfie …Danny Beard is a drag queen…my first introduction to them was on RuPaul’s Drag Race Uk…I’m not sure which season Danny Beard won but I think it might have been Season 4…anyway, I would think that all of the seasons might still be on BBC catch-up so if you wanted to see/hear more of them then that would be the place to look…

Ammi 02-11-2024 07:26 AM

…BB can feel a bit brutal at times when we have favourites whose behaviour is open to criticism and negativity etc… that’s always been the way and it’s not easy, I know…but someone like Ali for instance…?…also has lots of fans and positive support etc…so, it’s trying to focus on that also and focus on supporting her, rather than that others don’t so much…every housemate has and always has had their own individualities and things about them that display in their behaviour…like Lily, for instance who seems to have no independent experience of living at 20yrs old …Marcello can be quite dismissive of females, why is that…there are reasons…Dean seems to have a real aversion to ‘masculine males’…Nathan seems to be so lacking in confidence that his reliance seems to be on a showmance…and etc…there are reasons for everything and how people are and behave and act etc…we all have our own views and opinions on all of that but it doesn’t change that events/interactions in the house and that some housemates become very polarising and that’s going to creat very differing views…no right/no wrong….it just is what it is and what it is is BB, what we all love to be part of…together, not apart…

ebandit 02-11-2024 09:27 AM

ali whining 'i'm nearly 40 with a PHD and have to dress up like this......................' then describes things as 'icky' like a child?

i would have hoped that ali could have identified BB's plot to divide HM's and cause friction in the vampire v villagers task 'n brought ALL HM's
together as a team but NO she thinks she's above it all 'n in control..............

Yes. Yes, they would. But I don't actually think that it's entirely her fault how people have jumped on what she actually said. I am not really saying that she 100% lied, she might really believe it, I am saying that she knowingly dropped some language in that she knew would make her popular among a certain type of people. Saying that she thinks that she has some autistic traits isn't necessarily a lie, but she knows saying that definitely gets her a built in fanbase because is very intelligent and is very involved in that side of things.

Ali is only diagnosed with ADHD - she said she thinks she has autistic traits and that's all. But people out there have latched onto that and hoisted her up like some mascot poster child for autism.

But anyway, even saying that, an explanation is not an excuse and people in that house are accountable for their own actions.

To me, suggesting that Ali is not 100% in control and conscious of what she is doing in this game like some seem to be doing out there in BB land is wild.

Thank you. I enjoy the forum too much to let a tiny minority spoil it really. It just got to me in that moment :)

…(…I think and these are only my own thoughts, obviously…)…that ‘diagnosed with ADHD and also exhibits autistic traits’ is kind of possibly the whole diagnosis…and not that she’s self diagnosed as Autistic…for me, she does display more Autistic traits than she does, ADHD ones…which is interesting but why I think that what she said is a whole diagnosis, which has been assessed and given…but anyway, it’s still that thing for me a bit of …’When you meet one person with Autism, you’ve met one person with Autism’ and people are also who they are, they’re not their diagnosis…if that makes sense…and I do think that Ali’s behaviour/actions/reactions etc have been a huge foundation of a house divide…I don’t know if that would have happened anyway, none of us do…having said that, I’m not of the mindset that she’s groomed Lily or anyone…so there’s much that I don’t agree with the thoughts of others with regard to Ali and I don’t in any way, dislike her..…I do think her presence and impact on the house group hasn’t been good, though…in terms of that divide and the impact on the housemates in their own experiences…just going back to the ‘grooming’ thought though…it’s not something that I can see or agree with but in seeing others think that…?..it does make me try to look at all sides, which is one of the things that has always been great about BB…we all watch a d see the same…and yet we don’t……

You just described a classic autistic trait incidentally..

Wearing any kind of costume or ‘dressing up’ is completely abhorrent to probably 99% of people on the spectrum .. to put things into perspective .

I have never worn any kind of costume in all of my life … silly pretend play is impossible

I never even did drama at high school as it severely stressed me out - they allowed me to do the sound and lighting ..

…I think though, Zizu…in choosing to go into BB…(…and I did read an article that indicated that Ali wanted to have and embrace the whole BB experience…)…it’s accepted that there will be tasks and there will be dress up and if BB can make it embarrassing in any way or poke fun…they will……

Ali
“My brother was really unwell in his life, with like mental health problems and he was on the autistic spectrum and he had ADHD.”

Autism normally runs through families .. the fact that her brother had autism and ADHD adds weight to Ali’s case .

Many children/ people clearly have autism but it’s simply not worth jumping through hoops for years to get an official diagnosis

Quite often the parents who shout the loudest get their children diagnosed faster or at an earlier age to help them through the school years

Everything.. her family’s history of autism , her obvious traits, her own description of things and even Galfie’s educated opinion suggest she is on the spectrum .

And yet you and your cronies choose to deny her because she hasn’t got an official certificate at hand to wave in front of the tv cameras

Sorry, I did a sneaky edit while you were writing in order to clarify what I think is happening here :)

I don't know either, but if someone can figure out an approximate episode and scenario, I'm willing to go back and clip it... for entertainment purposes only, obviously. (for discussion purposes)

All that said, it's not really that critical to my opinion of Ali how autistic or how not autistic they are. If a person has a soul, I can look through a lot of socially unacceptable traits to see the good in people. It's not that complicated for me to find a little bit of grace to dig up there. So it has absolutely no bearing on my opinion whether she is self-diagnosed or board certified Autistic. It's more her treatment of others that set off red flags for me in the house.

I will say it does confirm *she* feels she has difficulties interacting with others beyond the average. That's fair and I don't think her behavior, whatever it is, has to take away from her own admissions to having difficulties there.. it's not fun to be in a house full of people one really can't relate to (See: Izaaz), so whether Autistic or not, I can see where that is really uncomfortable and can ruin the experience for any person.

She presumably didn’t have the choice to not wear a costume which makes your comment absurd

ebandit 04-11-2024 11:37 AM
