Into Yorkshire now, where a certain few residents of Emmerdale are slowly to realise just how much trouble they could be in if their hand in Shane's (Paul McEwan) murder is discovered. Donna (Verity Rushworth) realises that the feed bags that she unearthed at the Dingles' were discontinued over 10 years ago. Convinced that Eli (Joseph Gilgun) killed her now-dead colleague, the takes a feed bag and has the Dingles' van impounded and Eli hauled in for questioning. Will Eli come clean to the police? He is a Dingle...

It's all very exciting and he's a Dingle so no way will he come clean!

Scarlett. 13-01-2009 12:45 AM

Aye lol
This is the storyline that leads to Cain's return too
I heard Jasmine is leaving...I dont want her to do...it'd mean the only person from the Fylde coast (Blackpool ect.) left would be Scarlett King D:

Scarlett. 14-01-2009 06:30 PM

Edna was brilliant tonight with the scenes in the church

Scarlett. 14-01-2009 11:27 PM

Cant wait until tommorows episode....I hope the Wylde's will be as good as the Kings

[spoil]I heard the King's get Pear Tree cottage back next week, also Scarlett finally starts becoming a King[/spoil]

Scarlett. 15-01-2009 06:38 PM

Hmm...I have to admit, I still like the Kings as the main family...not too sure on the Wyldes yet

Scarlett. 18-01-2009 12:55 AM

When Eli is taken in on suspicion of killing Shane, Debbie fears the worst.

The terrified Dingle talks to Jasmine about fleeing the country, but Jasmine tells Laurel she’s going to the police.

Laurel knows her niece is lying and tries to stop Jasmine from leaving. In a fit of desperation, Jasmine shoves Laurel to the ground and runs off to catch a bus and meet up with Debbie.

However, fearing a life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit, Eli cracks and tells Henshall the truth.

The detective sends a police convoy into the village looking for Debbie, who makes a break for it by smashing through the garage doors in a taxi.

Jasmine is on the bus but the vehicle pulls over when the driver notices a police road block up ahead. Jasmine is horrified to see Debbie’s taxi in the distance and the police taking her away.

Jasmine watches helplessly but stays where she is. She knows she must face this alone. But can she leave her lover and Eli to their fate?

Three new additions to the Wylde family are to arrive in Emmerdale next month.

Mark (Maxwell Caulfied) and Natasha's (Amanda Donohoe) children Nathan, Maisie and Will appear in time for their father's birthday party.

Nathan, who is the eldest sibling in his mid-20s, is to be played by Lyndon Ogbourne, while Alice Coulthard takes on the role of Maisie. Will, the youngest member of the family, is to be portrayed by Oscar Lloyd.

Speaking of his casting, Ogbourne said: "I am really excited to be playing the role of Nathan Wylde. He is a bit of a rogue and I'm looking forward to bringing out his darker side. He's definitely not as nice as he seems."

Coulthard, meanwhile, commented: "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Maisie is a really fun character and she's not afraid to say and do the things that most people would never dare to. She'll be giving her parents a really hard time."

Ogbourne has previously appeared in Spooks, Doctors and Robin Hood among other shows, while Coulthard's acting credits include The Bill and Holby City.

Will arrives in the Dales on Monday, February 16, while Nathan and Maisie turn up the following day.

Trials, funerals, new comings and shock goings...and soaps biggest summer stunt! Emmerdale boss Anita Turner lets Soaplife into all her secrets for 2009.....

How would you sum up your plans for Emmerdale in 2009?

Introducing a new family, the Wyldes, at the head of the show is designed to reinvigorate Emmerdale, redefining our characters and getting old favourites working the way we love best. The introduction of the Wyldes will inject more story and energy into the whole show.

How do the Wyldes differ from past rich families, such as the Tates and the Kings, and how long are they sticking around for?

All our cast are on one year contracts so its difficult to guarantee any character will be in the show longer than that. But we're certainly looking at the Wyldes as a long term fixture. I think the biggest difference between them and any other rich family we've had in the show is Natasha and Mark Wylde truly love each other.

Do they come with any juicy secrets?

They're in for one hell of a shock in the village but as to whether they have big secrets of their own....watch this space.

The Sugdens, once the most important family in the Dales, are looking depleted. What are your plans for them?

After Jack's funeral in February the Sugdens are reunited and are determined to move forward as a family. Andy has the biggest battle of all because of all the trouble he's had in the past year with his temper. The real test for him is will he be able to control his temper and keep the family together?

Could Andy be the new Jack in time?

He's trying to step into Jack's shoes but can he do it? Its a massive challenge and he's got a long journey to get there.

Robert Sugden is returning for Jack's funeral. Any chance he'll stick around?

Karl Davies has kindly agreed to return for Jack's funeral episode but thats all. And I have no plans to recast the role. But Robert's sister Victoria is a fantastic character and she's certainly going to set the cat amongst the pigeons this year.

Quite a few major characters left in 2008. Is it a challenge to replace them?

The hardest part of the job is introducing new characters. You have to try and come up with the best story you can but theres never a guarantee the audience are going to like the characters. and if they dont like them, they can get very impatient with the story.

And what of Scott Windsor? Might he be due for a comeback?

I'm delighted Ben Freeman is now a free man. But whether Scott will be reintroduced, is still being discussed.

You are bringing back Cain Dingle though - will he return be explosive?

Cain's daughter Debbie will be going through hell due to the Shane Doyle murder storyline and it presented the exciting opportunity to reintroduce Cain.

Snippets...

Kelly comeback?

I would never discount bringing back old favourites - as long as there was a point. I love Kelly Windsor. Her relationship with Jimmy King was terrific so I wouldt rule out a return. But there are no definite plans....yet....

New love for Andy?

Andy's is a story of redemption which inevitably means him making lots of wrong turns along the way. Some will be in relationships and its too early to see if he can make anyone trust him again. I hope so. He's got a good heart underneath it all....

Secrets and lies

Its about time someone paid for their crime but you'll have to wait and see whether its Carl King, Jasmine Thomas or even Eric Pollard....

Soaps biggest stunt!

I have something big planned for summer. Something classically Emmerdale. It will involve pretty much everybody and it'll be life changing for our biggest characters.

King Size Challenge

We felt the time was right to reposition the King family to make way for fresh stories. Without Matthew, Jimmy and Carl have an enormous amount of story to play out. They're both great and they're going to be a key feature in 2009.

Soaplife

It's hinted that the stunt involves lots of water, so people are guessing its gonna be a flood

Scarlett. 28-01-2009 06:23 PM

Dross, Paul and Donna are out the door...not too sure on Jasmine...she might be back soon...not sure

After a two-and-a-half year absence, actor Jeff Hordley returns to Emmerdale next week as the village's unmistakable bad boy, Cain Dingle. With his first comeback attempt thwarted by police off screen, Cain finally makes his sudden reappearance on Tuesday, April 28 when his daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) finds him sat in the house. With Debbie's ongoing custody battle with Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) and the small matter of the £2.5m he stole from the Kings, it doesn't take Cain long before he's stirring trouble. Here, DS chats to Jeff about his sudden return mimicking his own life, Charity's return and Cain's secret.

How did the return come about?
"There were a few approaches but I kept putting it off, but I was approached by the new producer and I thought that the story was great and the time was right for me. Last year, I had a little boy and it wasn't the right time for me to return back then. Now everything seemed right for me to give it my all here again."

What are your thoughts on Emmerdale's new outlook?
"With Emmerdale in the hands of Steve Frost again and, of course, Gavin Blyth, they both care about the show massively and know it inside out. It's hopefully going to be a return to form and the good old days. It's a very big, positive thing and there's a great buzz and atmosphere around here at the moment."

And Cain's return to the village is quite sudden, isn't it?
"I think it's just Cain's way of coming back unannounced. I remember I made a similar return home years ago but did it badly... When I first travelled as a teenager, I went away to Greece for four months and my parents moved from the North-West down to Lincolnshire. I decided that I was going to return home unannounced, so I got on a train from Greece across Europe and when I got to Lincolnshire, I didn't have any money. So I got in a taxi and said 'I'll pay you when I get to the door'. We found this street that they lived on, knocked on their door and there was nobody there. I ended up having to knock on the neighbour's door with long hair, big tan and rucksack on my back! They didn't even know my mum and dad had an elder son! But I digress... Cain's style is to surprise people, but there has been involvement in the storyline as he was the one to get Debbie released from prison."

We'll be seeing more Cain and Debbie time, won't we?
"This is exactly why I was thrilled about coming back because they've really stayed true to the character's roots, which are that he'll do whatever it takes to look after that girl. If there's one Achilles heel of Cain, it's his daughter. It's his weakness and he'll move mountains for her. Admittedly, women are his other Achilles heel, but he won't move mountains for them."

You have some big fight scenes with the Kings during your first week, don't you?
"Yeah, I've been sat in the make-up chair getting cuts and grazes and bruises put on daily for the last few weeks. Because Cain waltzed off with the small matter of £2.5m, the Kings want some kind of payback. He goes to meet them and that's where the fight occurs."

Where is the money?
"Who knows? We've not found anything out about that yet, but what we do know is that he's had the money and he's been spending it. He returns to the village looking a bit smarter, wearing better clothes, a smarter haircut and a better BMW. I know Cain's been sending money to Debbie while he's been away, too."

You become involved with the character of Aaron, too?
"What's interesting on Cain's return is that everyone's moved on. The Elis and Aarons of this world are doing things that Cain used to do, so he looks down on them a bit. Aaron's like a little puppy looking up to Cain, thinking that his uncle's the bee's knees. There's a great relationship going to build there. Aaron stands for everything Cain was - he's a younger version of him and Cain recognises that. There's definitely lots of undiscovered territory there."

We spoke to Lucy Pargeter a few weeks ago and she mentioned that she wanted more screen time for Chas and Cain.
"It's the one thing that we've both always talked about over the years - that Cain and Chas's relationship hasn't really been explored. In all the years that we've been in the show, we're brother and sister, yet we have this non-existent relationship. So there's so much scope there and certainly with Aaron being involved, too. There certainly should be more involvement and I'm hopeful there will be."

And obviously we have the return of Charity…
"Yeah, it's going to be a big thing. I've been speaking to her recently and she's really excited about coming back. It should be great and I'd expect there'll be a lot of stuff between Charity, Debbie and Cain. It's a fantastic thing for the show that such a strong character is making a return."

Cain has a secret, too, doesn't he?
"All I can say is that it explains how he's managed to get Debbie freed from prison. That's what we find out in due course."

Which female residents of Emmerdale had better watch out now Cain's back?
"Whoever's not been on Cain's bedpost already! There's nobody initially, though, but there is a new family, isn't there..."
