YAYAYAY! :hello:
Well, Zac, I downloaded it, but I'll buy the album. |
I want to download it, but I also want to buy it.
And I want to see "Precious" right now!!!! |
She had a great voice once but she's lost it now, judging from her live performances. How does that happen so fast?
|
^Because she's no longer a 20 year old girl? When you put someone with a powerful voice like hers in the spotlight and make her tour/perform/record constantly it'll strain. Plus, Mariah is known for her whistle register which probably affected her voice over the years.
|
And the album is AMAZING!

But sure there's been loadsa other performers throughout the years who've maintained their voices much better than she has done. She was so bad on the Xfactor and Michael Jackson's memorial concert. I'd say there was a fair bit of tweaking done on the sound system during the recording of this album. |
Well with MJ show, I can only imagine she was very emotional. The start was bad but she picked it up at the end. XF, even I, a fan, thought she was very stiff and strained but that was really just a one time thing last year.
In the 90's her sound was very ballady, but now she's reinvented herself as an R&B/hip-hop artist so she doesn't exactly need a 6 octave voice to sing a power ballad anymore. |
Ah, she's lost what she had and is trying to fit in with what is hip and happening right now. Fair play to her for trying but in my opinion the sparkle is gone and has now been replaced with a tarty barbie doll who's all show and with no real depth.
|
I remember watching MJ's memorial thing and seeing Mariah preforming.
Me and my sister just turned to each ther with a look of disbelief. Mariah was total s*** sticks. And I knew she'd use the "I was so emotional" excuse as I said it to my sister right after the performance. Thank god Trey Lorenz was there to pick it up! But she was really good on Oprah singing "I want to now what love is" recently, which was nice to hear. And I rememeber the American Idol Gives Back epsiode from about 2 years ago where she sang "Fly like a bird" and blew it outta the park! It was just amazing. So, she still has her moments. But she has lost a lot of her "it" factor. |

I agree. It's much better than E=MC2. THANKS MIMI! |
These are the two best Mariah live performances IMO.
The first is at a basket ball match when she still new and most people didn't know of her. There is quite some shock therefore when she does her high note, which is fun to see. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/H1KNlQCWG5M&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/H1KNlQCWG5M&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> The second is when she's rehersing for the late late show or Jay Leno or somethin in 1990. It is probably her best live performance ever. Go to between 4:22 and 4:29 to get to the best part if you like. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tWEAOvDxVwU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tWEAOvDxVwU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |
I'm pretty disappointed by her album.
Every song has the same type of beat. Why did she let the The Dream write every single track? Who does that now a days? There is a few solid songs, but nothing spectacular. I give it a C+/B- |
She and the Dream wrote every single track because its her memoirs.
|
Album is #104 on UK iTunes! :cheer:
