Exactly...this 28 day after testing positive test lark is meaningless at this stage...surely it’s not beyond capability now to give accurate figures including those in hospital with covid, vents are the only reliable stat

user104658 27-04-2022 06:41 AM

I would largely agree that deaths should only be recorded as Covid deaths when it's the cause or a clear catalyst. I have to disagree with the idea that it shouldn't be recorded if there are underlying conditions. I mean sure you could leave out severe things like definite end-of-life illnesses or severe immune compromisation, but "underlying conditions" can be very common things like asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure (the vast majority of elderly people have at least one such minor condition), minor cancers that have high recovery rates, etc.

Those deaths should all still be recorded.

bots 27-04-2022 07:53 AM

i think it should need to be recorded as the primary cause on the death certificate for it to be counted as a covid death

If the government are as morally corrupt as so many believe and are continually criticised for their management of Covid 19 - why aren’t they massaging the daily Covid stats to look an awful lot better each day ?

Levels of Covid-19 are falling in all age groups of children and adults - and across most of the UK - according to the latest estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

One in 23 would test positive for the virus, down from one in 17 the week before - a 24% decrease.

Covid levels are declining in England, Scotland and Wales but are unchanged in Northern Ireland.

Despite the decreases, "infections do remain high," the ONS said.

"Infections have thankfully continued to decrease across most of the UK, though we are yet to see if this is part of a larger trend," said Kara Steel, senior statistician for the Covid-19 Infection Survey.

Around 2.87 million people would have tested positive for Covid in the week up to 23 April, down from 3.76 million the week before.

The figures are an estimate, based on tests on thousands of people in random households across the UK.

They provides the most accurate picture of Covid now that free testing for the public in England has come to an end.

The Covid pandemic has caused the deaths of nearly 15 million people around the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates.

That is 13% more deaths than normally expected over two years.

The WHO believes many countries undercounted the numbers who died from Covid - only 5.4 million were reported.

In India, there were 4.7 million Covid deaths, it says - 10 times the official figures - and almost a third of Covid deaths globally.

The Indian government has questioned the estimate, saying it has "concerns" about the methodology, but other studies have come to similar conclusions about the scale of deaths in the country.

Seems to me they are just making **** up now as we appear to be over the worst of it

MTVN 05-05-2022 05:17 PM

According to the WHO, the UK suffered fewer excess deaths than several countries in Europe including Italy, Spain and Germany

Lot of people were praising Germany for their handling of covid but looks like they were probably just understating their figures
