Thunderstorms for England and Wales

Although there remains significant uncertainty in location and timing, areas of
thunderstorms are expected to move northeast across parts of England and
Wales from late Wednesday through to Friday morning. Whilst not all locations
will be affected, some intense thunderstorms may occur during this period with
torrential rain, hail, frequent lightning and strong gusty winds possible. Rainfall
totals of around 30 mm could fall in an hour, with some locations potentially
receiving around 50 mm in 2-3 hours, although these will be fairly isolated.

The coldest June night in Scotland for 40 years!

Now bear in mind it gets dark there at midnight at mo and sun up at 4am that is quite a feat

The Met Office's weather forecasting contract with the BBC was lost over arguments about the 'dumbing down' of weather forecasts and problems with the Met Office's mobile app, according to BBC sources. The Met Office has provided data for BBC forecasts since their first ever weather bulletin in 1922.

Meteogroup undercut the MO and the BBC took another step down the rabbit hole

it was all down to the money the met office wanted in the end.

There are quite a few weather providers these days, each with their own speciality, but they are all pretty good and cheap too
