Only saw this the other night and found it probably the worst of the lot. The bulk of the film when they are on the run just dragged so bad. I found it incredibly dull. OOTP is my favourite. Of course a lot was missed out from the gargantuan book but it's the fastest paced, coming of age HP movie packed full of all the coolest characters. Anything where Lucius gets screentime can't be that bad.

It is confirmed that our favorite 'Harry Potter' character Severus Snape aka the Half-Blood Prince is going to die in the Boathouse in the upcoming 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2'.

So what's the big deal? It is big deal for us 'Harry Potter' fans, because in the book, Snape dies in the Shrieking Shack and not in the Boathouse and of course Snape is a big character he is a key, and everybody loves him.

Did the author JK Rowling agree? According to Andrew Ackland-Snow, the Art Director of the said film, JK Rowling agreed and loved it.

So why in the Boathouse? The creative team of the film wants to give a romantic ending for Snape. The team wanted to change a bit where Snape dies and to get him out from, not a conventional interior, but from that kind of box, to do it in a more dramatic atmosphere.
I always wanted Snape's death to be perfect, it'll still be good but why would Snape even be in the boat house?! :(

Argh noo

They better not do this with other parts of the film, I want it to be as true to the book as possible

MTVN 18-01-2011 06:13 PM

Can't really remember the book so this doesnt bother me :p

InOne 18-01-2011 07:16 PM

Awful change :bored: Doesn't that affect the whole battle bit somewhat as well?

Marsh. 19-01-2011 08:00 PM

I don't get it. Why the boat house. The change doesn't bother me as long as the story itself remains untouched, but I don't understand why they want it in the boathouse unless they need him near Hogwarts for someone to find his body or something.

Harry Potter art director Andrew Ackland-Snow has revealed that the location of Severus Snape's death has been changed in the forthcoming movie adaptation.

In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Hogwarts headmaster Snape - portrayed in the series by Alan Rickman - dies at the hands of Lord Voldemort and his snake Nagini in the Shrieking Shack. Ackland-Snow confirmed that J.K. Rowling had approved changes to the scenes which will appear in the final film.

"We wanted to change a bit where Snape dies," he told the Cine Premiere Mexico. "In the book, he dies on the Shrieking Shack, and we wanted to get him out from, not a conventional interior, but from that kind of box, to do it in a more dramatic atmosphere. We asked J.K. if she agreed for that to happen in there, because we hadn't really seen it before."

He continued: "We made a crystal house, and you can see what happens in the boat house from there - Are you listening Harry? - but also the school is in flames... and she loved it. Besides, it's a very romantic place to die. Snape dies in an extremely good way, I gotta say."

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part Two arrives in cinemas on July 15.
Seems JK didn't mind. I'm guessing they'll incorporate a flashback of him fawning over Lily at the boathouse or something and then juxtapose it over him dying there, that's what I get from the romantic aspect anyway.

Yeah that was my reaction too, if it was somewhere we'd seen before in the films then I'd probably be able to understand it more but we've never even seen the boathouse in the films and it's mentioned like in one sentence in the first book? Why introduce it now? :conf:

Sure it'll still be good though, I just hope they don't cut anything from when he gives Harry his memories of him and Lily.

Blu ray version of DH Part 1 will have a sneak peek at Part 2 which is being released on April 11... both good and bad news, good obviously we'll get to see footage from the final ever film but bad is that we have to wait over 3 months for it, was expecting it to be released late March :(

Marsh. 23-01-2011 02:04 AM

Late March or mid April is hardly a big difference lol.

First trailer for Part 2 expected sometime next month :D

InOne 24-02-2011 11:03 PM

Any word on anything else they've changed? Do they do that whole thing where Harry gets carried up to the castle still?

Callum 24-02-2011 11:42 PM

As far as I'm aware that's still in the film. A new scene has recently been added though involving Neville fighting a Death Eater on the covered bridge.

Some other changes:

- Scene where Ron and Hermione share their first kiss has been moved to the Chamber of Secrets
- Crabbe won't be in the film, the actor faced drug charges so Goyle will die instead
- Ollivander will be familar with the Deathly Hallows where as in the book he doesn't know what they are
- Voldemort will be searching for Harry in the woods in a new scene
- the Quidditch pitch will burn down
- scene where Ron and Hermione are chased by Nagini has been added
-final battle between Harry and Voldemort will be extended, and while other parts of the second phase of the Battle of Hogwarts will be shown, the primary focus will be centred on Harry and Voldemort.

Callum 27-02-2011 09:15 PM

Trailer for Part 2 confirmed to be released online March 9th and will be sent to cinemas on March 11th :D Exciting!
