As for "talking at someone in a particular manner", once again that just proves the very point. He'll have a go at others for things that are much lesser than what he encourages from Bear.

Because that was his own precious ego being knocked, the whole point is that he's happy to overlook and even encourage Bear's dickery when it's not aimed at him.
