The police will decide that

If you don't like the laws in this country that's your problem

How are you so sure that he was wrongly accused?

His explanation makes sense, and rabid Corbynistas aren't likely to be racist against non-Jews.

Well if I don't like something, then of course it's my problem, that's why I speak out about it.

I'm not sure Mr Baker has broken any laws, show me the law that states that it's illegal to post a picture of a monkey holding hands with two humans, on twitter?

If that is a law, then it's worse than I thought.

Yeah you forgot to add the part where “Mr Baker” said that that monkey was the newly born royal baby, who is mixed race.

Doesn't he deny that he knew the baby was mixed race? How you gonna prove him wrong, unless you take control of his thoughts? I don't even know if the baby is mixed race, has that been confirmed? I haven't been following.

Not quite, but you're in the right ballpark. I just haven't been following, I've heard Megan is mixed race, but that doesn't automatically make the baby mixed race, does it? I'm not sure on these things, I hated Science.

His picture wasn't a comment on the baby's race though. In his own words:
"I chose the wrong photo to illustrate a joke. Disastrously so.

"In attempting to lampoon privilege and the news cycle I went to a file of goofy pictures and saw the chimp dressed as a Lord and thought, 'That's the one!' Had I kept searching I might have chosen General Tom Thumb or even a a baby in a crown. But I didn't. God knows I wish had.

Danny Baker had a Live gig this weekend
reports saying it went well,
Even though he tweeted that old photo with the chimp
which he has done before.

See, i don't think he is necessarily racist, but i do think he intended to hurt the royal family by poking fun at them because its fashionable. He can continue to refine his excuse (he has refined it 3 times already) ... it's not really the point. His post offended some people, the BBC couldn't be associated with that for obvious reasons, so he lost his job. That for me is the end of it

of course it went well, I doubt people will turn away from him in droves because of one tweet, and as for the police being involved, well its easy to see why some actual crimes are never investigated because so much time is taken up with 'investigating' tweets made by people who should step away from their phone on occasion

I don't think there's any reason not to point out the ridiculous pomp that surrounds the Royals, personally, and actually of ALL the royals I think Harry and Meghan probably agree with that to an extent . They've made it very clear that they do NOT want their child paraded around like a "national prize" and want him to have as private / normal a childhood as possible.

However I find it a flimsy excuse and I find it almost impossible to believe that the race aspect didn't cross Baker's mind as he made his tweet. The "I'm just so un-racist that I didn't even realise it could be seen as racist!!" is old, tired and daft.

bots 13-05-2019 07:43 AM

i detest the whole concept of the royal family, so i'm happy if people poke fun at them, but Danny knew what he was doing. It's a very fine line between something being hilarious and not appropriate, thats the whole point of comedy. If everyone thinks it's funny, you have scored a winner, but if your employer doesn't find it funny, you are ****ed ... that's life

[Danny Baker performed his first live show since his tweet abou
t the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby, which resulted in the DJ losing his job.
Baker was sacked from BBC Radio 5 Live after sharing a photograph
featuring a chimpanzee alongside the caption: “Royal baby leaves hospital”.
The tweet was posted on Wednesday, the same day Harry and Meghan appeared for
the first time in public with their newborn son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Arriving onstage to a warm reception, Baker told the audience at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal:
“I genuinely didn’t know what the atmosphere would be like tonight.
But equally, if anyone does want to rush the stage, I’m a Millwall fan with a snooker cue.
You wouldn’t believe how I was feeling 20 minutes ago but I’m so pleased so let’s do this.”]

He's wasting his time trying to explain. The hand-wringers have already got too tight a hold on this they'll never let it drop, he is damned for all time.

I thought it was both sad and ridiculous that the front page of a newspaper shared two stories... the birth of the royal baby and the fact that someone posted a poor-taste joke on Twitter.

There is a slither of a chance that he doesn't know anything at all about Meghan nor her heritage because she's not exactly Serena Williams, is she. Some people have no interest at all in the royal family and know nothing about them, did not watch the wedding, don't care whether they had a baby or not.

I don't know anything about Danny Baker. I'm neither a fan nor a hater, but I think the pitchforks can go away now.

Anger as Danny Baker threatens audience with snooker queue.

I'm convinced that if he said sorry, openly, sincerely and just once and then laid low for six months people would completely forget about it, having long moved on to the next "incident". This applies to pretty much every single celebrity slip up but it seems that people NEVER learn that repeatedly engaging and apologising only prolongs the attention and actually ensures that people DO remember.

Unless something starts being drawn out, the "general public" (and especially social media) has a very, very short memory. He'd probably even have been back on the beeb in a couple of years, but he's making it worse with the follow-up comments.

the problems are of his own making, first the tweet, then the apology that wasn't an apology but an attack, then the follow up apologies. It's pretty clear from that that he isn't sorry at all, so then anything he comes out with subsequent to that is tainted. I don't care enough about him to give a damn personally, I don't think in general that he is a nice guy, so what goes around comes around
