tbh the next "leader" is irrelevant as its 5 years. no one cares and its meaningless

Five years of putting Boris in his place from across the Dispatch would do wonders for Labour.

He was not a good MP.
he voted against his constituents.
He came in from the mist and has beggared off back into it.

"Here comes new boss, same as old boss" ..

No thanks. We needs to waft the smell of Corbynism out of Labour's rafters.

On Dead Ringers Comedy R4

Rebecca Long-Bailey was described as
a MP with 4 years old face of a girl.

There's some amusing chimping out by people triged by the phrase "progressive patriotism" on Twitter lol, RLB probably shot herself in the foot there.

'Corbyn confirmed he will not stand again' :joker:
As if he would even be considered for standing again.
The man is an egomaniac who should have taken his skinny ass off to the backbenches when he failed catastrophically. Instead he is clinging on to the leadership for as long as he can with no apology or self awareness. Disgraceful.

Oliver_W 31-12-2019 01:13 AM

What's the hurry, Parliament isn't even sitting right now  he may as well keep the seat warm so members and possible competitors can have a semblance of a holiday.

He is clinging on until the last minute at the end of March. Other leaders who have lost so badly have resigned immediately. It's the dignified thing to do.

He has no obligation to be dignified  I think for the good of Labour he should go asap, but he doesn't have to do anything.

How can he stand down until a replacement has been elected, where would the logic be in quitting before that?

There is still important work to be done, opposition parties don't cease to function post election.

bots 31-12-2019 11:16 AM

in normal circumstances the deputy leader would take over but they don't have one anymore. Given the many disperate groups within labour I can see how it is a challenge to leave it to a consensus rabble to represent the opposition in parliament.

Whatever Jeremy does now will be ignored anyway as he is a dead man walking, a bit like May was even though she won the last election. Everyone knew her time was up and they therefore took no heed of her. Jeremy will be the same

Then why do so many in the Labour party think he should have done?
An opposition doesn't cease to function because a leader resigns, have you never heard of temps?
Mickey mouse could do a better job than Corbyn.
