...you know that Dex has to be eternal now because it would be too much to bear if Roisin lost him again...and actually, Roisin has to be eternal as well because it would be too Shakespeare tragic if Dex were to lose her ....Second Chance is a really interesting chapter and concept, actually...if we had a second chance at life but still possessed the memories of our first life, as it were...and the added layer of our first life being deliberately taken by someone...?...I might be pondering that all day actually...:laugh:..I’ll read the other chapter tomorrow probably just because I don’t want to catch up too quickly...but a great start, Scarlett...:love:..

Indeed, Dex still feels kind of... lost, except when he's with Roisin

...you said, Scarlett...that Sanctuary had a slightly different feel to it..?..and that, I think, can be felt already ...even only a few chapters in, you know...atm, it feels ‘lighter’ and maybe a bit more playful in the connections of the characters...also very personal moments of Roisin talking about the loss of her arm and how she often can feel it as if it’s there....?...to reveal inner thoughts of such a personal nature suggest comfort and intimacy/trust also...which does reflect what you said about it being set within ‘comforting walls’ this time...

...well I guess we’ll see how comforting those city walls are going to be...:laugh:...dun, dun, dun...

Indeed, this book is definately more like that, more character focused, though it will still have some actiony parts!

...this chapter with the log entries, Scarlett...it’s giving me vibes of 30 Days of Night...I don’t mind the dark/night itself but night creatures creep me a little...if there is something to fear, I want to actually see that something...prolonged darkness would just not be a good world to be in...

Indeed, the only areas left with natural light now are the cities with Crystals. The Western Continent is unaffected as they have only lost one Crystal

...this chapter really shows the complications of a mother/child relationship, Scarlett..as Ariel said...she felt so much hate and yet a part of her would always feel love as well, no matter the evil that Amanda may have been...and although their feelings for a long time might have been already of a type of loss...?...they were both feeling the tremendous heaviness of grief again..?...it’s so well written, Scarlett...you show a deep understanding of relationships and their complications...

Indeed, when she was at Sanctuary, she was able to believe Amanda would make it back on her own, but when she left the city, she began to lose that hope and reality set in

...I know that you’re especially gifted at writing fantasy world/sci fi, type things...but I also love how you explore the depth of ‘human’ and its complications as well, Scarlett...you really do write with such considerations...that such sadness and pain could be felt for someone as evil and cold as Amanda by those who her evil has been directed at..?...isn’t so much about the person that emotion is being felt about, it’s about those who are feeling it and why they are feeling it so deeply...because they place value on ‘loss’ in a way that Amanda never has and never could....

Indeed, while it is a fantasy mixed with sci-fi, the heart of the story is the human (or person xD) drama and the interactions between the characters :D

...the refugees from Aranei arriving...?...these weren’t the people responsible for the death of their homeland...but that’s how they were ‘judged’ by Syl but the refugees were victims too...and it’s often also that ‘naive’ is accused, isn’t it...?...when what Roisin showed was very far from ‘naive’...she showed a depth of knowledge of experience, but it didn’t change her for remaining true to herself and who she is...’she had a complete experience of those deaths in her homeland but wouldn’t judge all by some of a specific hateful mindset../...she wouldn’t react to those deaths by becoming someone she wasn’t and remains true to herself...she’s completely the right person to safeguard crystals and their powers, I think...

Indeed! It's not that Syl is bad for feeling the way he does, he has every right to hate the Araneian Empire and Amanda, that said, he's always thought of Aranei as it's military force and not the citizens.

I've wanted to do a story about refugees for a while, but felt it needed to be worked into the story properly :)

...’things and stuff’...makes me think of that Walking Dead/Rick gif...’stuff and thangs’....:laugh’...I love the way you blend together things like the ominous darkness that they’re all living with, with lighter/playful things like Roisin’s favourite chocolates, you know...?...I guess that it shows how they’re all adapting to the darkness as part of their ‘normal’ lives...as we are with Ms Corona, you could say..?...another good chapter, Scarlett...:love:..

Indeed, its hard to adapt to a new normal, but people can always manage it.
