Chellini was their centre back and he was playing in our half for most of the second half. We went far too deep and invited the danger. We should have brought a Grealish or Foden on earlier to give their team something to think about, their defence had it too easy.

Mystic Mock 11-07-2021 10:27 PM

I think that both teams played well in their own way tonight.

Congratulations to Italy, you must be chuffed Vanessa.:)

And with England it was nice to see us actually trying to do well for a change, Southgate has achieved something that I never thought was possible.

I've always been vocal about belive Southgate isn't the one and the is why he goes missing in the big games and has lost every tournament game against very strong opposition you don't win anything by just beating the weak teams you have to turn up against the heavyweights

LaLaLand 11-07-2021 10:29 PM

As a Welshman, we just don’t support England in football.

However saying that, that was a great game and my heart goes out to Southgate and the team - to come so close yet so far must be torture. Gareth is a fantastic manager. Well done!

Strange the way Southgate uses him. He carries the ball , he gets up field, he wins fouls. The moment I saw us getting behind the ball at the start the 2nd half. We needed Grealish to keep the ball and not let Italy dominate possession. I hated those tactics, but the team did well and will be back

The players who allowed Saka to take the 5th penalty are also a disgrace a Young Boy who never taken a penalty was used as a scape goat incase we lost, the more experienced players should have stepped up ahead of him

Sterling should have talent it.

Calderyon 11-07-2021 10:37 PM

Imo if you have scored even a single goal in the tournament and you are fit, you should be a default choice for penalty kick comps.

Denmark, Germany, and Croatia aren't "weak" teams.

A good experience for Saka, if his attitude is right, then he'll be fine.

If he's ever in that situation again, he'll know how bad it feels to miss and be determined to put it right.

Nothing new, I knew it would go without serious punishment as the Italians love to cheat and foul and get away with stuff

Kane and Rice were superb, Walker was as good as ever.

Yep

All that talent on the bench..

Southgate is not good enough to make the most of the squad’s ability

I hope he resigns in the coming days ..
He’s gonna get slaughtered in the media , I think

The Italian mentality is that rules are there to be broken. It’s they same with everything in Italian life

Denmark and Croatia are levels below the England squad and Germy are a team in major transition who have been on a down fall for a while

England had the easiest run to the final Italy were the strongest team and we failed, the fact the world so called best striker can't get past 2 men put on day release from a care home is a joke

If it weren't for Southgate we would still be losing to teams like Iceland.

Smithy 11-07-2021 10:47 PM

Guess footballs going to Rome

Alf 11-07-2021 10:48 PM

Still, it was a bit of excitement to pass the time. Back to the real World now

Gareth Southgate has managed England to their first final in 55 years (54) in a major competition, so i think he should be fine?

There are so many better more qualified managers our there who would use the talents of the players well yet they only want yes men I charge

I don't watch tbf so know nothing but I was shocked how dirty their players were. They were fouling, getting yellow carded and then subbed so a new one could come on and start fouling.

He literally choked Saka here where was the red card?
