Is there a dramatic song to do a Highland dance too that pulls at the patriotic heart strings?

I looked at Rod Stewart songs but nothing fitted a Highland dance.

The first line of this song is "I've just come home from the Isle of Skye"

Bagpipes music would have been better, and my score had the plus one added to it...unfortunatly, your entry got my bristles up, as I thought it was a bit of a piss take tbh.

Cherie 24-11-2021 09:30 PM

Well done Neem :clap2:

The audience would have thoroughly enjoyed my performance, entertainmet personified, with a touch of humour. "Donald where's me Trousers" was hit in the UK charts when I was a kid back in the 80s. A Scottish classic. I seriously don't think I could have done better for a Highland dance, everything else I considered was boring.

Strictly Tibb Dancing: Series 7(week 4 Around the World)

Have to admit Alf, it did feel a bit like a piss-take, us scots can be sensitive about these things (nothing worse than a Londoner in a see-you-Jimmy hat).

Myself and my wife once had a full on argument whilst on a 3 day visit to my in-laws because I got triggered by her mum constantly trying to do accents from Taggart.

It was a bad time.

Alf 25-11-2021 07:10 AM

The Holly Valace song "Kiss Kiss" could have been chosen for both a "belly dance" and "Bollywood dance" imo. I was expecting to see Holly Vallance.

I would have liked the Italian ballet dance. I thought Nessa may have been given that one seeing as she's Italian, like Niamh got the Irish dance.

ummm no, Kiss Kiss is a turkish song, so not for bollywood dance, and the term for that dance is Bhangra

if i were still in this game, i definitely would've slayed with Bhangra, since i know hundreds of good indian bops, and Bhangra dance indeed is very entertaining to watch

italian opera dance? well good luck with whatever that is, i more connect italian opera songs to contemporary dance

There's bin a mardar!

Nicky91 25-11-2021 07:18 AM

some examples of Bhangra

Alf 25-11-2021 07:18 AM

To be fair, I did think Niamh chose very well this round. Great song choice Niamh.

Toy Soldier: I can't argue that it fits the theme and that the dance was great! But it was exactly the song I expected so I'm afraid I can't help but feel that this was very "safe"

Parmnion: Exuberant, giving absolutely adorable

Barry: I’d prefer the original ja ho without the dolls but it was still a great effort

Toy Soldier:8
Parmnion:10!
Barry:9

Score:27

A.R Rahman, seriously  and Parmy giving that generic, basic, dull music a 10

A.R Rahman does not represent real bhangra music, at all

:suspect:

It's OK if you do it anyway as you're Irish. Just the English who aren't allowed :fist:.

Quite right

It was quite a catchphrase at work when Taggart was at its peak

Thank you Sir :douf:

Jake, I'm sorry to pick a predictable theme but I can't think of anything original so I'm going to go with Songs from the Movies for this round

Cherie 25-11-2021 09:48 AM

Kudos to the judges, I think these are the best 3 we have ever had and I include myself as I was a judge but useless at coming up with commentary  they are also very fair I think
