It has actually started raining.

For any precipitation its much easier just to look at the most recent radar image

that will be a false reading, he needs to do five mins at speed in the van to get a proper air temp and not have the solar heating to the metal affect the sensor

Last time we were in the sea in Rhodes , Greece we had a flash storm it came from nowhere and lashed it down for 30 minutes.

The funny thing was whist we stayed in the sea all the locals and foreigners ran in out of the rain ... then all the Brits in the beach bars realised it was raining and about 50 of them ran into the sea !!

You might remember that last summer something called a heat dome caused sweltering temperatures in Canada and the US.

Well, now Europe is experiencing one of its own. It’s sitting mostly over southern Europe - as our graphic shows.

A heat dome is a large mass of hot air that gets trapped by high pressure.

“It’s sat there, wobbling, sending wafts of hot air our way,” the Met Office told BBC News.

For now it appears “firmly anchored”, meaning that we could see more hot air could come our way for a considerable time.

The UK does have its own potential right now for high temperatures - dry soil, strong sun, and above-average sea surface temperatures.

But the Met Office says that the heat dome is driving most of the conditions.

Sod it, im gonna drive down Winchelsea in a bit. Nice quiet beach, only about 50 mins from me. Gonna go for a evening dip.

bots 19-07-2022 04:44 PM

Scotland has recorded its hottest day with a temperature of 34.8C.

The Met Office confirmed the high was recorded at Charterhall in the Scottish Borders.

It surpasses the previous Scottish record of 32.9C recorded in Greycrook in the Borders on 9 August 2003.

I think that my area is just under 40 degrees at the moment.

It's ****ing evil heat where I live, it should be against the law to be this hot imo.:joker:

MTVN 20-07-2022 05:05 AM

After opening my bedroom window for the heat I ended up having to get up to close it at 2am for the wind :oh:

bots 20-07-2022 05:26 AM

i'm sure glad things go back to a rather pleasant 25C today, i'm still trying to cool the house down to a sensible temperature

AnnieK 20-07-2022 06:07 AM
