They have him for a longer period to collect evidence. Pretty hard to look through mountains of internet evidence in his house, if they let him go back to his house to try and hide any evidence. People being held without charge is not abnormal, especially in complicated cases spanning across Europe.

He's accused of "lover boy" style sex trafficking/grooming/exploitation, there's never been any suggestion that he had women locked up or in chains. The chains are psychological.
