Third guess. Although I didn't put enough thought into the first two clues. I would have never considered it a comedy so that probably put me off. Yes there are comedic moments in it but I wouldn't have classed it in the comedy genre.

Niamh. 02-09-2023 09:09 AM

5th clue, should have got that sooner

James 02-09-2023 10:24 AM

Second guess.

STAND BY ME

Alf 02-09-2023 11:36 AM

1st guess.

One of my all time favourites.

Swan 02-09-2023 12:16 PM

2nd guess. Only thing that threw me off was it was rated R, thought that would be a PG-13 in the US.

I always remember from the old video shop days that it was rated 15. Don't think they still do that.

There was U (universal) PG (parental guardian) 15 and 18.

Saying it was a comedy threw me off

Yeah i remember all that, i was reading a lot about the BBFC and how they operated back in those days. "fcuk at 15" was a general rule they went by, so if a film said the word "fcuk" it was automatically a 15. I can't remember when the 12 certificate came out, the 90's i think, that helped lower a lot of the ratings.

True, much more a coming of age drama.

Alf 02-09-2023 12:47 PM

Yeah, I remember 12 coming into play. I think you're probably right that it was 1990s

Swan 02-09-2023 01:00 PM

Stand By Me was rated R in the US because it said the word "fcuk" more than once.

James 03-09-2023 04:18 AM

The first 12 certificate in the UK was Batman from 1989.

James 03-09-2023 04:19 AM

Didn't get today's answer.
