They’ll listen to anyone who’s in distress or just needs someone to talk to about something that’s getting in the way of them living their best lives. Anything.

I’ve definitely had suicidal moments when I needed to use Samaritans just to keep me gucci for the night (there’s no shame in being a little open about that) but that’s not all they’re there for.

I actually didn't know that they also helped with other issues that people might be mentally suffering with.

They seem like a good service tbh, that unfortunately are getting idiots hijacking it for different reasons to what it's actually meant to be there for.

Oh and my own personal gripe is with the Yakuza Video Game fandom.

Unlike other Video Game franchises where their fandoms will nitpick at even the slightest issue, the Yakuza fandom largely laps it up:

1. Name change from Yakuza to Like A Dragon (and I don't care if that's what it's called in Japan) we in the West obviously don't live in Japan, and we have been calling it Yakuza since the PS2 days, and that is how it should've stayed in the West.

But anyway, no resistance from the fandom to the title change.

2. Hardly any fight back on the horrible change to becoming a Turn Based RPG, when it was originally an Action-Adventure series, with a tiny amount of RPG thrown in, and I mean very slight.

We've even got people on Twitter, trying to call the series an RPG series, which is just disgusting as it isn't an RPG series, you are the genre that you started out as, it's that simple.

3. No fight back on all of the Yakuza cast from the Kiryu era largely being removed in Yakuza 7, which again helped lose that Game it's connections to the rest of the franchise imo. But again hardly any blow back on that from the fandom.

4. The fact that Yakuza 8 moved location from Japan to America for chunks of the Game, how on earth is that a Yakuza Game? Especially when you take into account all of the other changes that I've mentioned.

And 5. Dialling down the jokes/eccentricity, if some people don't like the jokes that you've told then tough, you imo don't dial down the humour just to please people that "might've" been offended, again common sense is just completely ignored though.

That advert for incontinence pads where the woman is sitting on the toilet. What does she tell me that she couldn't have said on her feet with her knickers up?

Another example of slipping standards, I’m afraid !

How come we get trigger warnings for soaps but are subjected to the most harrowing adverts without warning? Fly-covered babies in Africa, awful animal abuse, cancer... And plenty of ads for rearranging your funeral in case you're one of the unlucky ones.

This is part of what I’m saying. Those adverts are in very, very poor taste.

They are. And the thing is a lot of people have been on both ends of the 'phone. They've had cause to reach out and they've been volunteers themselves, so it can be a double-barrelled experience.

Ugh. Enough already. Just shut up, dude.

He can’t even pronounce Greggs right.

Nearly everything on TV nowadays is designed with one of these three things in mind at the very least. And possibly all three if it's a tragically awful product.

1. To make the viewer feel depressed.

2. To divide audiences over Politics.

And 3. Refusal to have a proper personality that isn't just about what demographic that you come from.

Redway 05-06-2024 11:56 PM

Unnecessary drama being made to be your business. And all the annoying conversations and crazily disproportionate reactions that come with it. Hate it.

“I want us to talk about something nice”, only for it to be the ugliest, most unnecessarily drama-filled conversation you’ve had in a while. I’m not going to run a mile anyway if you really need us to talk but let’s drop the lies. You haven’t summoned me up so we can sing kumbaya over ice cream.

People lacking all subtlety in terms of recognising, interpreting and acknowledging someone’s need for boundaries at any one moment in time. Sometimes you need space from people and it may or may not be anything personal.

Mystic Mock 06-06-2024 01:28 AM

Why are these so good.:fist:

It’s a convenient way of distinguishing between trans. people and people who are the sex they were assigned at birth. Trans people themselves get called much worse so I dunno. I dunno. Everyone has the right to feel how they feel but I’m not trying to be up in my own because of the most handy nomenclature of the time. Trans people get too much flack at the minute.

You are a complex little entity , aren’t you !?

Why spend so much time and energy on something so inconsequential

Slow and inattentive customer-service. One person on their own behind the bar when there are dozens of people waiting to order.

Currently the weather. Only 7c this morning at 8am.

Forecast for the rest of June a washout and some frost - continued wind and low temperatures.

No hope for July either. :(

Got a bit of sun where I am today so it is what it is. In any case, June 2007 was much rainier.
