I hope that everyone has a great Christmas, and an even better 2024.

Just to add, I also want to thank Kate for making this thread, it's good to see TIBB members gathering together as a group and just being chill.

Apologies I missed this one Merry Christmas Mock and family x

My turn today. As some of you may remember, my mother passed away in early November. She'd had a few close calls with death over the last decade or so, but there's only so many fights you can win. She was 72 and on account of her ill-health over the past 7-8 years, I'd been mentally preparing myself for the day she'd die. But of course, you never wake up thinking today's going to be the day. And whatever level of mental preparation you do isn't ever quite enough to shield you from the initial pain. Her passing so close to Christmas, you might think there's not much I can be thankful for. But there are a few things. Chief among them, I'm thankful it was quick, and I'm thankful she was with the people she loved most, and who loved her the most. I shall leave you all with a poem I found while looking among a stack of them that the celebrant provided us with. I didn't end up using it for the funeral as there was another poem that felt was more applicable and that my father needed to hear (he's had a tougher time accepting my mother's death, and so I chose one of those you are stronger than you think-type pieces to be read out), but if there's any lesson to be taken from the passing of a loved one, this is that lesson:

And so my Christmas message is that I hope we're all reunited with the ones we love in the next life or at the end of time or whenever. I've been uncharacteristically sappy enough with this message, so I won't go overboard and pick an equally sappy Christmas song. Here's the joyously twisted Making Christmas from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I hope you and your Dad have a good Christmas and raise a toast to your dear Mum x

Have a great Christmas Ness x

We all will, Chalk  But it's still natural to mourn the end of a life as it was before. We are also mourning a loss this Christmas and I'm still mourning one from the last and in little ways even, one from before it, as if it amplifies the importance of such a time... so recalling that life is precious and to treasure every moment we have until we don't have it. One day it'll be us and we will leave someone around to remember  But that's the quality of things like Christmas and cherishing such holidays/get togethers... we got here somehow, so we will inevitably go too somehow someday... but until then let's just have a Merry Christmas

It's 1.44 am as I start to write my Advent Calendar entry and I'm wide awake. Went to bed at 9pm as the TV schedule was appalling. Let's start with a couple of my all time favourite Christmas songs, from the wonderful Girls Aloud and the amazing Kylie.

Next, here's a Christmas poem narrated on YouTube that I found, it's very good. Please listen to it in its entirety, the ending is sweet.

And here's my message.....written from the heart.

Merry Christmas Tibbfolk. It has not been a year in which I've exactly covered myself in Glory. For those who don't know, I developed a gambling addiction which included stealing money from my boyfriend to my eternal shame. I also considered cheating with an ex, but thankfully his morals were stronger than mine and nothing happened. I was at a very low ebb. My relationship disintegrated to the point that my boyfriend asked me to move out, but with time he forgave me, for which I will be eternally grateful as hell. Words can't express it.

Anyway, I confided in Tibb and I'm humbled by the supportive responses I got, only a couple of people were negative which is of course their prerogative. No word of a lie, it was all of you that got me through it, and I had some pretty dark days. I thank you all collectively from the bottom of my heart.

Good things about 2023 now. I have lost 2 dress sizes, am eating much more healthily, have quit alcohol almost entirely, just the occasional tipple. I met Tibbs lovely Vanessa in November, we spent a couple of days in Blackpool and had a great time. A good experience. I hope to repeat it next year, this time in the Spring or Summer.

Tibb is such a great community, I don't know what I'd do without you all. Quick namecheck thank you to James for taking it over and ensuring its survival, with much appreciation.

I'll now hand over to our lovely Zizu, who is ready to post us all some more Christmas songs to enjoy.

Merry Christmas. I love you all.

It's been a very good thread to read through I think.
