Wednesday was artificially boosted due to the good lead-in.
Do you have any idea how pathetically immature that sounds =\?

I phrased it badly, I admit. I stand up and sincerely apologise to anyone that found that comment pathetic.

If I were to rephrase it, I would say:

"I sort of expected that rating, because I thought the Wednesday show was artificially boosted."

Is that good enough for you now? Or do you want another alteration with the phrasing. :laugh2:

Ohh im sad that it went down :(

Beastie 12-06-2009 11:35 AM

so what do you think the ratings will be tonight?

Tom 12-06-2009 11:36 AM

I think 2.7-9m and 2.2m

It was always likely. All the "rises" we've seen in the past few days have been artificial. Here is the explanation:

Monday- 2.0m . This was dented by about 0.2m due to finishing 8 minutes early.

Tuesday- 2.2m . It was higher than Monday's as it only finished 2 minutes early, so was hardly dented at all. If Monday's show hadn't finished so early, then both would have been nearly equal.

Wednesday- 2.4m. Higher than Tuesday because it followed Embarrasing Bodies which got 3.5m, BB's best lead in for the week.

I fear that it has now stabilised itself to around the low 2's for the 10pm highlights shows.

Theres a fair bit in the papers today though about Saffia, Sree, Cairon etc and tonights eviction so hopefully a lot of people who were willing to give it a go try again tonight and see that its quite good ... and as a result it gets a few more viewers. Tonight will probabaly give us an indication to how many people actually are watching though. Not everyone watches every night, so say 1m who watched on Tuesday might not have watched on Wednesday, and some don't watch the whole thing.

That kind of thing is evident in finale figures, though CBB had more of a loyal than casual audience and we don't know about this one yet but I suppose tonight will give us a good indication how many are watching in total especially with todays papers.

To be honest, I've looked through the papers and I don't think there's that much media coverage.

For sure, there's more coverage than previous days, but it's nothing compared to previous years including last year.

Saffia's exit only made a little bit on the Daily Star front page (admittedly it had a Ronaldo story at the front); but even so, it was a very small section which that tells you everything. Last year, they'd have the whole front page covered by BB for a similar situation.

The figures we're seeing at the moment are unacceptable. Bosses were hoping for a 3.0 million overnight average. I know you said official average, but that's not the case at all. It's the overnight average which they want 3 million for as it's what determines their advertising revenue.

At the moment, it's about nearly a million off that.

What did it get last night?

2.16 million. That includes viewers who watched on Channel 4 +1.

Don't agree about the same thing last year getting the whole cover. As far as the public are concerned, football is more important than BB (its always been that way) and the Ronaldo story is big.

Billy 12-06-2009 12:41 PM

President your making it out as if BB9 was more popular mediawise last year? It really wasn't. The launch got more media coverage yeah but it The Sun still confined all the news to a double page spread.

Tom 12-06-2009 12:49 PM

BB9 didn't even get that much coverage, its not much less this year. I actually think its a bit more

cleaner67 12-06-2009 12:57 PM

Still say half the problem is the time the HL show is on and live feed
is starting much too late at night.

I disagree, particularly the bold bit. Media coverage is definitely less than last year.

The Sun aren't doing the center-page spreads they did last year, nor are they running their BB Bitch column from past series. Well actually, they did on day 2 but that was it.

Daily Mirror has basically had nothing. Daily Record has a small article. Daily Star has usual two page spread I think. The NOTW still has it's 4 page BB pull-out though (used to be 16 pages a couple of years).

It's definitely a lot less than last year, which itself was less than the previous year and so on.

And for the record I don't actually buy all these tabloids, I just flick through them at work on a break.

Spike 12-06-2009 04:11 PM

Not so good last night
I don't think it will break 3million tonight

Stentionhouse 12-06-2009 06:23 PM

I think people are getting increasingly frustrated over [you know what - I won't mention it] and we're only one week in. As the weeks pass by, I can see the viewing figures falling to unprecedented levels, particularly as the weather is finally starting to pick up.

The producers need to do something startling to halt the slide. But I can't see that happening. Everyone involved, including the HMs, just seem to be going through the motions of fulfilling the contractual obligation now.

*mazedsalv** 13-06-2009 10:22 AM

These are NOT including +1

1st show- 2.7m
2nd show- 1.9m

Well done to the first show at least, the +1 figure i think will bring the rating to break the 3m barrier, and understandable on the 2nd show, it finished 9 minutes early!

So looks like the 1st show will be the most watched since the launch.

Tom 13-06-2009 10:23 AM

2.7m and 1.9m for last night ... the second show usually adds on about 0.5-0.7m which should bring it into line with regular ratings

Looks like it has definitely found its level now though

EDIT: Never realised they don't include +1, so first show should be pushing 3m and second one a little more too ....

Yep the +1 will bring the 1st show to 3m or more (highest rating since launch)the officials will bring it to about 3.4m and the 2nd show will have it to about 2.1m including +1 but in the officials it will go up drastically because of it finishing 9 mins before so that would have deceased the rating quite a lot.... so the 2nd rating i think will be about 2.7m in the officials.

Lewis. 13-06-2009 10:38 AM

Highlights show should start at 9pm, to bring in the viewers. 10pm is Waaaay too late.

President 13-06-2009 10:41 AM

IBB are saying the second show got 1.7m (11%).

Where are you ratings from?

Tom 13-06-2009 10:49 AM

IBB said 1.9m when I looked .... I'm assuming Salv looked there as well seems as though we posted at the same time

Tom 13-06-2009 10:51 AM

Oh I get what they've done! Just went back on and they've got the full break down. When I looked they only had it until 11pm (when it went off air) so I expect they just did it for when BB was on air (1.9m) and not the whole slot (1.7m)

President 13-06-2009 11:00 AM

Just seen the explanation regarding the slight confusion:

To clarify, 1.7m (11%) is for 10:35-11:10, which is the schedule the Channel 4 website has down.

Initially, I wrote down 1.9m (12%) because that covered 10:35-11:05 which Radio Times had the listings as.

So it rated even worse than first suspected!
