Could well be :(

Don't know whether the Razzies are worth the effort - after all, the ceremonies are now more likely to be locked and deleted than not, and clearly four years after they started they're now a bit of a problem (despite the fact that only one person has ever taken extreme offence in that time)

I'll wait and see what James (and only James) has to say before I decide how to proceed

I think the Razzies are the only thing i look forward in general on the forum. It's a light-hearted bit of fun after all right? People on here take things so seriously it's unbelievable.

All the effort you put in to actually organizing and running them should be respected.

Mystic Mock 05-11-2012 10:00 PM

I want to get my claws out and win a few of these awards, especially the creepiest member one.

Kate! 05-11-2012 10:01 PM

Sometimes it goes too far this, and its just an excuse for someone to be able to anonymously say nasty and unacceptable/upsetting/insulting things that normally as a rule they'd get infracted for. Plus they get to do so anonymously. As I said this time last year, its all very well if its kept lighthearted and is very clearly all in fun, but some go too far, I voted for some of the awards last year ... All my noms were very jokey and I was very careful to choose people/say stuff that I knew would be taken in good humour. Shame but not everyone is that decent about it. :p

And yes I complained last year and Matt, you weren't happy that I'd done so. I won't hesitate to do do again if I find it unacceptable not just towards myself, but others as well. I know full well I'm far from tje only one who feels this way, but won't necessarily open their gobs lol :/

Smithy 05-11-2012 10:01 PM

Sandra Bullock won a razzie and then an oscar so people really shouldn't be offended, you could end up in the hall of shame and then win most loved :suspect:

Maia 05-11-2012 10:04 PM

But no one has to give reasons for this they just pick who they want to vote for

And it's light-hearted the only people who have gone too far with it has been Brother Leon and Locke

Yeah it's always annoying how the threads get locked and then are just forgotten about. They've even been locked when there wasn't even any arguing going on.

Black Dagger 05-11-2012 10:09 PM

People need to stop being so ****ing sensitive and get a grip of themselves if they get upset over something as trivial as this :bored:

Mystic Mock 05-11-2012 10:10 PM

The thing is, is if your going to have stuff like Most Loved and vote on it and don't mind taking part, then the same courtesy should be shown towards The Razzies.

MTVN 05-11-2012 10:11 PM

Nobody's even said they're opting out yet and anyway I don't see why it's such a major disaster if one or two people do

Kizzy 05-11-2012 10:25 PM

Do you ever wish you hadn't said anything?....

Kate! 05-11-2012 10:25 PM

Lucas, with due respect, that's very rude what you said.

Plus last year things went way way too far and got too personal, and I don't mean in regard to myself either :pipe:

That's my opinion, its how I feel, and to say its not worth holding because an opt out option may be put in place just indicates to me that it is in fact all about being able to have a go at those who are the most sensitive and will get upset.

My god..I take loads of stick from the Turtle, Marc and a few others, so its not that I can't take banter fgs. Here's an idea, Let's do it, but not anonymously. Oh no, people won't do it then though will they?

My offence comes from the fact that this is being discussed behind my back, and that moderators are announcing the rules of my game without consulting me first

As Jarrod quite rightly pointed out, it's a matter of respect

That said, I am of the opinion that there shouldn't be an opt-out list, for the following reasons (which I messaged to James earlier):

Quote:

- As a whole the Razzies are a lot more light-hearted than Controversy/Most Hated Member, and most if not all of the individual awards aren't as insulting
- In the four years I've ran the Razzies so far there's only been one member that's taken extreme offence (and that member had voted for the awards so clearly they knew what they were about)
- There isn't an opt-out list for the real life Razzie Awards
- An opt-out list would undermine the Razzies - if a significant amount of members opted out there would be no point in running it

I can't speak for all but for me it's just a laugh and should not be taken seriously.

Also if your gonna accept your positives then you should also accept your negatives being pointed out imo, and that's not just aimed at you *Kate*.

InOne 05-11-2012 10:29 PM

And with this opt-out thing it starts a chain. Once one does it a few start doing it.

Brother Leon 05-11-2012 10:30 PM

Quick question

Can we discuss who we nominated in here, or is going to be deemed "baiting"?

Josy 05-11-2012 10:36 PM

Just wanted to point out, the mods weren't discussing it.

Black Dagger 05-11-2012 10:37 PM

I was just giving my verdict on something anyway...

I had my fair of **** in the Razzies and laughed it off, it's not like what's said on here is going to make you want to jump off a tall building, just laugh at it, it'll make the forum lively for a couple of days and then we move on..

Mystic Mock 05-11-2012 10:38 PM

We know Josy don't worry lol.

Marsh. 05-11-2012 10:39 PM

Hang on, Most Loved noms are all posted on the forum aren't they?

So why are these anonymous but those other aren't?

Mystic Mock 05-11-2012 10:41 PM

Members votes still stay anonymous I think.

Marsh. 05-11-2012 10:42 PM

Quite a common feeling on this forum.

MTVN 05-11-2012 10:42 PM

Yeah I didn't realise it was happening either for what it's worth, I don't think it's that big a deal though, if it is all light hearted then no real need to be stringent in insisting everyone has to take part IMO, and I know the vast majority just have a laugh with it but there normally arguments too, the threads don't get locked for no reason and just off the top of my head I know that one member ended up getting a month ban during it last year

Anyway I have no real strong feelings either way, but I really can't see any more than one or two opting out in any case

No they're not, some people just choose to reveal their votes at the end

Ah right, I get it.

Kate! 05-11-2012 10:48 PM

Exactly Marsh, exactly.

Also Mock, I do accept my negatives, I take the Piss out of myself on here and accept it in good spirits from others WHEN its meant in good spirits. However anonymous attacks aren't acceptable. Why should it be anonymous. If i vote/voted on this I would be more than happy to put my name to everything I said.

For the record, I won't opt out, but I will complain if it goes too far and I don't really care what anyone thinks about that. Keep it light hearted. There will be no problem.

Mystic Mock 05-11-2012 10:50 PM

Oh I agree it should stay light hearted, but anyone that causes trouble should banned for the night imo.

Marsh. 05-11-2012 10:52 PM

What exactly happened last year? Were there cruel awards or something?

Where's the list of winners?

Cheers matt, you're cool :)
So are you going to drop the anonymity?

Benjamin 06-11-2012 01:58 AM

Just to throw my opinion in (again). I don't mind the awards going ahead, nor will I opt out, I'm not a complete fun sponge. But if people don't want to be included they shouldn't have to be.

Matt 06-11-2012 02:33 AM

After talking to James, I have come to the conclusion that it is necessary to start allowing members to opt out of taking part in the Razzies.

If you wish to abstain from being personally involved in this year's Razzies voting and ceremony, please private message me before voting opens in roughly a week's time, and I will add you to the opt-out list.

By opting out, you will not be personally eligible to be nominated for or win awards in the Razzies 2012 ceremony. Please note that any non-personal nominations - for threads, posts, games, stories, events, moments etc. created by or involving you - can still be made in the applicable categories.

Also, please note that by opting out, you will not be allowed to cast your own votes in any of the categories.

In addition to those who are against the Razzies, I politely ask any members who do not object to the Razzies in principle, but may be offended by the eventual results, to also opt out of taking part so as not to spoil it for those who enjoy them unconditionally.
