Over on Hollyoaks, newcomer Kevin Foster steps up his schemes against Brendan Brady as he continues to do Walker's dirty work.

Kevin (Elliot Balchin) is well aware of Brendan's traumatic childhood after chatting to Walker, so he plays on this knowledge by making up a story about his own past.

Confiding in Brendan (Emmett Scanlan), Kevin claims that his uncle Robert used to abuse him. When Brendan comforts his young employee, Ste is surprised to spot the pair hugging.

The next day, however, Brendan finally realises that Kevin is lying and lashes out at him, unleashing all his anger about his own dark past.

While Brendan's violent outburst doesn't go very far, Walker later beats up Kevin himself and sends him off to the police station sporting some nasty injuries.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/07/618x417/so...aks-3548-1.jpg

Bruised and bloodied, Kevin formally accuses Brendan of a sexual assault, which leads to the nightclub owner's arrest.

Ste is determined to find out what Kevin is up to and confronts him, but Kevin succeeds in planting a seed of doubt in his mind regarding Brendan's innocence…

Hollyoaks airs these scenes on Wednesday, February 27 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.

Danniella Westbrook: 'New Hollyoaks character Trudy seriously warped'

Quote:

Danniella Westbrook has described her Hollyoaks character Trudy as "seriously warped".

The 39-year-old actress, who has been cast as an ex-convict in the teen soap, told Bang Showbiz that she found some of her alter ego's actions to be "shocking".

http://i1.cdnds.net/12/52/618x460/so...estbrook-2.jpg

''I was thinking you have to be seriously warped to play this character. Some of the stuff Trudy does was shocking," she said.

Westbrook also acknowledged that she will not be cast as "dolly bird" characters anymore.

She added: ''There was no pressure on me to play Trudy because there are so many young, beautiful actresses in this show with so much energy.

"But my days of being a dolly bird are over. It was normal for me to play a sort of gangster-type role."

Comparing Trudy to her former soap role as Sam Mitchell, the star added: "It was very different to EastEnders. The cast was much smaller.''

Fans can see Westbrook make her debut as Trudy in this evening's Hollyoaks on Channel 4 at 6.30pm.

I still struggle with my sexuality

Quote:

Hollyoaks’ PJ Brennan admits he still has his demons.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oa...R1S1r65l0f.jpg

Hollyoaks star PJ Brennan has confessed he’s still struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.

Despite being openly gay, the actor - Hollyoaks’ Doug Carter - admits he’s still got a lot to learn to have the “confidence to be my own human being”.
In a frank interview with SoapSquawk the American told how he battles every day with his sexuality, has a lot to learn and was left hurt after facing homophobic slurs in the street.

“People assume that I am 100% comfortable about being gay but it’s the exact opposite,” he explained.

“The perception is that I should have had all this worked out by the time I got on a show that has put me in the spotlight for being gay. I’m still working it out, I’m very late in my own development.

“To have people message me everyday and tell me things, I feel bad because half of me wants to empathise with them and the other half wants to go ‘you don’t know what I have to deal with everyday’.

“There are so many hurdles I need to get past before I can draw back and be myself.

“It’s tricky but it means I need to focus on myself and making me happy because I want to lead by example”

But he added: “I don’t want to be a spokesperson or a role model, not in the traditional sense.”

“I got called ‘****** Doug’ on the street a few weeks ago and it still makes me feel awful”

PJ was raised in Brooklyn, New York in a strict Catholic family and he admits his faith shaped the way he looked at himself.

He added: “I was raised Catholic so that influenced the way I viewed myself and when my sexuality started to become an issue for me it was in conjunction with my idea to become an actor.”

He decided to move to the UK to train as an actor in the hope that would give him the freedom to be himself.

PJ said: “I thought the freedom to train was also an opportunity to understand myself a bit better. That’s what drama school was, three years finding the confidence to call myself an actor and to find the confidence to be my own human being.

“The culture in the UK is so more open, which is one of the reasons I moved here and I’ve been here over five years now.

“If Hollyoaks took place in America we wouldn’t be doing these character interactions. I like scenes that have us just kissing because we’re a couple, it’s not for impact or titillation. I like playing the day to day stuff.”

It is very clear that like many gay men and women around the country he battles with his demons every day.

One of those demons is that as an actor he’s often asked to go topless on camera.

So he agreed to strip naked for a photoshoot for Gay Times, determined to face his fears.

PJ explained: “As an actor I get scared every day when it says I have to take my shirt off, that’s a hurdle, I’m getting in my own way as an actor. I have a list of things I want to accomplish while I’m here and one of them is to be fearless in a lot of situations.

“This show happens to include lots of topless scenes and nudity so it’s frequent how nervous I get about being in work, often over something silly.

“So when the Gay Times opportunity came up I thought ‘Well, if I do this it gets it all out in the open’, I mean there is literally only one part of my body that’s not out there for all to see! I faced my fears.”

But being gay in the public eye does have its downside as PJ admits that he was recently verbally abused in the street.

He said: “I got called ‘****** Doug’ on the street a few weeks ago and it still makes me feel awful.”

But it’s not just narrow-minded idiots who attack him over his sexuality.

PJ says he’s often shocked by the negativity within the gay community too.

He admitted: “It’s interesting because a lot of gay men have tweeted me to say I have a gay haircut now, which is homophobic. On top of that gay men tweet me and say I’m too skinny or cry too much which is “so gay”, so within the gay community there is self hatred which is something I have only just realised.

“Everyday is a new thing that I’m learning and trying to navigate through.”

I agree, the storyline for her exit could have been better but I am glad in all honesty that she had a lovely low key departure now and had an happy ending of sorts, which means she could return in the future if Rachel Shenton wanted to reprise the role.

I am kind of gutted we did not get one last Mitzeee/Mercy showdown before she left though.

And it looks like he’s not going to change direction any time soon.

This week he resorts to desperate measures to maintain his emotional hold over Texas Longford.

He’s furious when she goes on a night out without him, so while she’s out he deliberately tips himself out of his chair and waits until she arrives home.

Ramping up the emotional blackmail, he makes her promise that she will never leave him again.

But his joy is shortlived when he later discovers that she’s planning on moving to New York.

A show insider said: "He’s furious and starts coming up with a plan to stop her."

We exclusively revealed that Texas is going to be sensationally murdered on her wedding day after agreeing to marry Will.

Will and Texas are so annoying:bored:.

Holly and Cindy go to war!

Quote:

Hollyoaks spoiler: Stephanie Waring predicts a riot in Chester.

Stephanie Waring has predicted there will be fireworks between her alter ego Cindy Longford and daughter Holly.

Holly proves to be a chip off the old block this week as she decides she’s going to use and abuse the local men to get what she wants.

But Stephanie says it won’t be long before these two fiery women go to war with each other.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oa...CB7EF46D6C.jpg

Holly’s back and looking a bit different...
What a difference a couple of years and a good bottle of hair dye makes! She’s great but looks a lot older which is something the audience will get used to pretty quickly. It’s lovely to be able to re*establish a relationship with Holly. People will forget but she was the first baby to be born on Hollyoaks, I was the first character to be pregnant and have a baby so there’s a lot of history there.

What sort of relationship do they have now?
It’s a volatile relationship, they are more like sisters than mother and daughter. I don’t think Cindy ever sees herself as a good mum, she tries but she’s not a natural mother.

Is Holly a chip off the old block?
Oh yeah! I think she’s Cindy mark two. The way I look at it is that when Cindy fled the village back in 2000, she and Holly spent all those years with Cindy’s sister Jude, who is the ultimate bitch. So Holly has adapted herself to be like Jude, she’s learnt from the people around her and that’s made her a bit of a messed up kid.

She decides she wants to become a ’rinser’ and use guys for their money, is she a schemer?
Well, she’s learnt from the best so yes. She’s gone off the rails, she’s a ticking time bomb that will explode into this uber bitch. She’s going to give Cindy a run for her money and then men of Chester better watch out. She’ll turn every head in that village because she’s gorgeous. Also, because she looks older than she actually is, I think that will cause a lot of problems where guys are concerned.

http://www.soapsquawk.co.uk/media/Oaks%20cast/Cindy.jpg

How do you and Wallis Day get on off screen?
From the minute we met we text and speak everyday, even if we’re not at work. I don’t think a day has gone past that we haven’t spoken. She reminds me a lot of me when I was her age, well, apart from the six foot and gorgeous blonde hair! I’m just trying to help her to adjust to being on a soap in Hollyoaks and everything that it brings into your life. It’s not easy, you can get carried away with everything and I just hope I can guide her in the right way without being too parental. I just want her to do well.

Can you see them joining forces in the future and becoming this bitchy power couple?
I think so, I think they will be a great team. But I think along the way something will happen to split them up again. I think they will come really close and then a bomb will hit and it will be war between them.

If that’s the case would Cindy really go to war with her own daughter?
It depends what Holly does! I think Holly is going to be very selfish, just as Cindy is very selfish and when you get two people like that together it doesn’t gel well together. I can see a spanner in the works.

bbfan1991 18-02-2013 06:22 PM

Bye Rob and Annalise, it is a shame to see them go:(.

Sinead and Holly a new friendship starting? How did Holly get into the club anyway, it looks like Diane and Cindy could have some scenes together which should be good:).

How did Maxine not get in touch with Mitzeee about Brendan either? Walker better not hurt her, but I think Kevin will save her if he dares.

bbfan1991 18-02-2013 06:23 PM

The Tony and Cindy scenes were funny, they need to give them more storylines individually as characters now they are separated.

bbfan1991 19-02-2013 05:39 PM

I liked the fiery Diane and Cindy scenes. Holly was also good in telling Cindy that she has been a useless Mother to her.

Oh Maxine wait till you find out what really is happening.

'Hollyoaks': Elliot Balchin talks Kevin role, shock Brendan claim

Quote:

After a slow-burn introduction to Hollyoaks, newcomer Kevin Foster is brought to the forefront next week as he falsely accuses Brendan Brady of sexually assaulting him.

Kevin's shocking allegation comes as he continues to follow Walker's orders, which means trying to make Brendan's life as miserable as possible.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Elliot Balchin, who plays Kevin, to hear more about the storyline twist and his mysterious character's background.

http://i1.cdnds.net/13/03/618x741/so...chin-kevin.jpg

How are you settling in at Hollyoaks?
"It's been amazing. In terms of the whole cast and crew, it's one of the friendliest environments that I've worked in. Everyone makes such a concerted effort to introduce themselves and just make you feel welcome.

"It's great, particularly because we've got so many long-running cast members here. You'd think they'd be sick of new faces after a while, but everyone's amazing. I've been blessed."

Are you pleased with Kevin's storyline?
"I think it's been great, because it's subtle to start with and the build-up is nice - it's very gradual. Because I'm around such big characters with major storylines, it's nice to come in under the radar.

"The characters and the audience are learning new things about Kevin all the time, so there is a shock factor when things start to come out. That's nice, because I've had so many people messaging me with questions. Kevin does become integral to the story, so it's nice to have people guessing and questioning."

How do you describe Kevin?
"Kevin has been on the streets for years and he's been in the foster care system. His beginning in the show is quite similar to Ste's. Ste came into the show originally as a little scally, and Kevin emulates some of the qualities that Ste had at that time. It's nice that Brendan picks up on that and there are parallels to be made.

"I think Kevin is led by his circumstances. He finds himself in circumstances and situations that he wouldn't put himself in by choice. Deep down he's not a bad person. He has the ability to manipulate, but he's not evil."

How long has Kevin known Walker for?
"I was really lucky to be working with Neil Newbon, who plays Walker, because we spent a lot of time together before we started shooting. We were going over our backstories, and a lot of it we created ourselves. We re-enacted Kevin and Walker's first meeting and stuff like that.

"Between us, we worked out that while Walker has been on the run for the shooting incident with Riley, he spotted Kevin pick-pocketing and doing little bits of criminal activity. Walker also saw the similarities between Kevin and Ste, so he realised that he could use all of this to his advantage.

"Walker has been talking to Kevin about Brendan's history for quite a while. We decided that they'd been planning this for a good few months before the viewers even saw Kevin on screen."

Why does Kevin lie to Brendan and claim that he was abused by his uncle?
"It's because Walker has told Kevin all about Brendan's abuse as a child. As so few people know about his history, Brendan has no idea that Kevin already knows his secret. When Brendan hears the story about Kevin being abused as a child, he instantly feels a connection with him.

"It's manipulation at its worst, but then Kevin slips up out of fear the next day - he knows that he's in way above his head! After that, Brendan knows that Kevin is lying."

We've heard that Brendan gets violent with Kevin after that. How far does his attack go?
"Luckily, it's stopped before it gets to a certain stage, but then Walker also beats up Kevin. He gets into a few scrapes - my time in the make-up chair is long every morning, and usually entails some cuts and bruises!"

Is it Kevin's idea to go to the police and claim that Brendan sexually assaulted him?
"It's all Walker's idea! The thing to remember is that Kevin has spent so many years on the streets on his own. He thought that this Walker guy was going to give him some sort of protection and stability, but then the real Walker shows his face.

"With a lot of the stuff Kevin ends up doing, it's purely through fear. He's got one of two choices - he either gets beaten up by Walker or beaten up by Brendan! He's stuck between a rock and a hard place."

Does Ste believe Kevin's false allegation?
"What's interesting is that Kevin puts the seeds of doubt into Ste's mind. There's no outright statement from Ste of, 'I do believe you' or 'I don't believe you'. But Kevin is fantastic at putting seeds in people's minds which become slow-burners. He gets people thinking things without them realising he had anything to do with it.

"Kevin starts manipulating the relationship between Brendan and Ste quite well. He puts a spanner in the works. Their relationship has been at its best before Kevin starts, but it does go slightly south."

Next week's episodes also see Walker tell Kevin that he wants Maxine dead! How does Kevin react?
"Well, Kevin and Maxine's relationship develops as time goes on. Kevin would never intentionally want to cause harm to another person. He's not a violent person and he doesn't have the same evil streak as Walker. Things become quite interesting between Kevin and Maxine, but you'll have to wait and see what happens."

What kind of feedback are you getting from the Hollyoaks fans?
"Well, the relationship between Brendan and Ste is a much-loved one and it's very heavily followed by the fans. The feedback's been really positive, but one of the main things is that they're worried and terrified about what Kevin's going to do to Stendan!

"I think people get upset if anything disrupts that relationship, especially as it's been going so well recently. But that's nice as any reaction is a positive. If you're affecting the audience in some way, it's great."

Have you enjoyed working with Emmett and Neil?
"It's so good. One of the joys of working with Emmett is that he always changes things slightly - it's never the same thing twice. That means that you have to be completely in the scene every moment, because you never quite know where it's going to go.

"I think that's a joy to work with, because it just means that it's spontaneous and real. It's the same with Neil. Emmett and Neil both work extremely hard, so to be around that work ethic makes you want to work harder yourself."

Which other cast members have you made friends with?
"The cast are great. Laurie Duncan who plays Callum is a great friend, and so is Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove who plays Texas. Danny Mac is also a joy to be around. Bronagh Waugh is like mother hen, so you can't help but be in love with her!

"I have to say all of them, though. We all go on nights out together and everyone makes a point of letting everyone else know what's going on."

How does Hollyoaks compare to your previous work?
"It's such a new way of working. I have an absolute new-found respect for soap and soap actors, because of the speed of the turnover and the amount of stuff you have to process in such a short space of time.

"I've learned invaluable lessons while I've been here at Hollyoaks, and that's the great thing - you come in every day and you're learning. It's the longest time that I've spent on one role so far, so it's great for me. I've just come out of drama school and I took a three-year break for that, so I couldn't have asked for a better way back into the industry, really."

Is Kevin sticking around in Hollyoaks?
"Kevin's story develops quite a lot from now, and as for where it's going to go from here, we're still in talks. There's a question mark over it at the moment, but Kevin's character has the potential to stay on for a bit longer, so we'll have to wait and see."

I am liking Kevin so far and it will be interesting to see what happens to him next:). Elliot Balchin seems a nice guy and I think he is doing a good job.

'Hollyoaks': Claire Cooper leaving Jacqui McQueen role

Quote:

Hollyoaks star Claire Cooper has decided to leave the soap after six years playing Jacqui McQueen, Digital Spy can confirm.

The actress is bowing out to pursue new projects and her final scenes will air in April.

http://i2.cdnds.net/12/08/618x525/so...ui_mcqueen.jpg

Speaking of her decision to bow out, Cooper explained: "I have had the most incredible and unforgettable time at Hollyoaks. Jacqui McQueen has been a fascinating part to play and I have nothing but gratitude to Channel 4 and Hollyoaks for giving me the opportunity.

"I would especially like to thank [executive producer] Bryan Kirkwood, whom I adore and have nothing but respect and praise for. It's sad that I'm leaving when Hollyoaks is at such a high-point, especially with Bryan back at the helm, but it's the right time for me personally to explore other avenues and see what other stories I can tell.

"To my family, friends, colleagues and fans, thank you for your support - it's been one hell of a ride for Miss McQueen and an inspirational one for me."

Paying tribute to Cooper and Jacqui, show boss Kirkwood added: "Claire Cooper has created an unforgettable soap character in the indomitable Jacqui McQueen. I feel very protective and proud of Claire's wonderful, tough, sexy, funny creation and she has struck a perfect balance of portraying Jacqui's 'hard as nails' exterior, as well as her crushing vulnerability.

"I'm devastated to be losing Jacqui, but after six years of her wearing those thigh-high PVC boots, I respect Claire's need to explore other roles. I wish her the best of luck - not that she'll need it."
Gutted:(, but I wish Claire well in what she does next. She is lovely, a fab Actress and has created a legendary character in Jacqui McQueen, who will be missed.

The producers are powerless when some of the best actors choose to leave, but I am sure that BK has replacements lined up for those leaving:).

They are doing my head in because apparently Hollyoaks is going to be crap and should end once Brendan Brady leaves, what a load of nonsense because no character has ever been bigger than the show!
