It really depends what their future aims are, flattening a country is not going to expand their reach, influence or wealth

I still think obviously NATO expansion was a large part of it, I also suspect that undermining the system of oil & gas trading being linked to the US dollar was a large part of it as well... and I think they may well have achieved both of those aims. Now the question is to what degree they want to "save face" as they frankly have tipped their hand a bit in terms of what power they have. It's been long-suspected of course but it's now fairly clear that it's true; their standing army consists mostly of outdated tech and poorly trained/unmotivated soldiers. Which is inevitable with a mandatory military service requirement, quite frankly. People will fight for a strong ideology, people will fight if they've chosen to do so as a career... people with no ideology AND who didn't choose to arm up as their career? They're going to do the bare minimum to not look like a deserter whilst keeping themselves as safe as possible.

Meanwhile Lukashenko said allegations of atrocities in northern Ukraine were "a psychological operation carried out by the English"

user104658 12-04-2022 06:58 PM

The English? Ah well hopefully they'll stick to nuking south of the border then. Although realistically they're going to target the damn Trident bases on the Clyde. Great big ****ing bullseye on us there :fist:.

Phones calls have been intercepted of Russian wives giving their soldier husbands permission to rape in Ukraine. One saying "use protection and don’t tell me".

depraved Russians continuing to show how evil they are.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Tuesday he was ready to travel to Kyiv with colleagues from Poland and the Baltic states, but was told his presence in Ukraine would be undesirable.

The plan, Steinmeier said during a trip to Warsaw, was to “undertake a trip to Kyiv to send a strong signal of common European solidarity with Ukraine".

"I was ready to do this, but apparently - and I have to take note of this - this was not wanted in Kyiv."

The German newspaper Bild cited Ukrainian sources as saying that Steinmeier was refused admission to Kyiv "due to close ties with Russia in recent years".

According to Bild, the office of the German president has received a clear signal from Kyiv that he is not yet welcome there, but a future meeting may still take place.

Ukraine has severely damaged Russias Moskva warship with strikes this morning, Russia trying to claim it was just a fire which caused ammunition to explode

bots 14-04-2022 09:20 AM

ukraine said it was one of their neptune missiles, but i highly suspect it was a uk missile as we said we were going to send the anti ship systems, and a week or so later ukraine take out the lead ship in the russian fleet

it wasn't retaliation for that because according to the russians it was a fire onboard and not a missile attack

In other news, will our government show how fair they are to all and start sending Ukrainian refugees to Rwanda?

Oh wait, the home office has not been awarding visas for them...

The Russian Missiles
hit, an Ukraine Military Store with Missiles
on the edge of the capitol.

Ch4HDnews confirmed.

Sticks 15-04-2022 06:05 PM

I was being satirical and linking two stories in the news, to show what a policy amounts to, if you take it to its logical conclusion.

Putting aside that policy breaks international law, but then Boris has never allowed such trivial details as The Law, bother him (Oops allusion to another story in the news)
