Luck of the Irish my ass

andyman 19-11-2009 07:51 AM

Funny that Fifa have said nothing..

Video needs to be brought into the game to help the ref and keep the game fair, how many more times must this go on?

I blame Fifa and their stuck up ways, i'm sure they wanted France in the final anyway.

Ugly day for football..

Iceman 19-11-2009 12:37 PM

Yep, wonder if Henry will be able to look his wife in the eye.

Captain.Remy 19-11-2009 02:55 PM

LOL @the French hate hahaha Last night match was fishy to the max lmao

Lauren 19-11-2009 03:01 PM

Irish calling for a rematch hosted in Paris. Would only be fair but stuff like this never happens!

Hi everyone

Captain.Remy 19-11-2009 03:06 PM

It will not happen. At the end of the day, it's not Henry's fault. I mean, he did it, it should have been considered as a full stop. It's the referee who didn't make his job right, he should have seen it.

Hi Lauren and Remy.

Henry should have put his hand up instantly before playing the ball to indicate handball. He is an amazing footballer, he does not need to cheat to win.

I remember one instance I think it may have been Liverpool V Man U... maybe '98 (not very good with my football), where Liverpool were 2-0 down, and Robbie Fowler was brought down in the box. The ref called the penalty decision, but instead of taking it - Fowler told the ref that he had simply fallen at the wrong time and there was no wrong doing.

It's footballers like this that maintain the rules of football, and Henry should have done this especially considering the importance of the game. ALSO, Henry's handball was not accidental as we see a lot - it was purposeful - he stopped the ball and then controlled it for a pass.

Lauren 19-11-2009 03:13 PM

PS. Hey PJ and Remy

I didn't even watch it anyway, just saw some clips this morning on TV because the controversy was everywhere lol Everybody was talking about it today at Uni, it all went crazy.
But yeah, bad luck guys. The French team won't get far anyway, quarter-finals max.

Lauren 19-11-2009 03:20 PM

The only reason I'd accept the French getting far is if they stamp all over the English to get there  LOL (now I'll have andyman after me!)

Iceman 19-11-2009 03:21 PM

Was a good match, not Henry's fault, linesman fault....eh talk about going crazy, all my status updates and **** on FB have been about henry and it went a bit far, whats done is done, lets hope it gets the video ref brought into the game, like andyman says its a modern game with stone age rules...

It was his fault, he purposefully controlled the ball in order to keep it in play. I'm not saying he deserves the things said about him, that is terrible. But he really should've indicated the handball as soon as it was played.
