Agreed.

VAR isn't the disaster, it's the var refs interpretation of the facts that is a disaster

I understand forests frustration, but you can't go around calling someone a cheat in writing. That's just not right and exactly what options do they have? Its a football game, they can't sue, they can't ask for a replay etc etc

I think they will get severe punishment for that statement. Lets be real here, they could get thrown out of the league for saying stuff like that in public.

Personally, i think they should keep goal line technology but suspend var next season while everything about it is reviewed and adjusted appropriately. They also have to have clarity and consistency in all their rules, and stop introducing tweaks every season that just confuse everything. That is at least half of the problem

There was a poll done by Championship fans and 94% voted against introducing VAR to the championship !

They enjoy celebrating a goal straight away …

I keep hearing comments saying that there are fewer incorrect decisions now due to VAR
bit the ONLY decisions that VAR gets correct are the ones where they disallow an offside goal for a millimetre !!

They are the goals that would and should have been given as the old take on the offside rule was to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team !!

It’s slowly killing the game .. players and fans are now reluctant to celebrate a goal until after the VAR check a few minutes later

Coventry’s 4th goal was one of the great FA Cup moments… until 118 seconds later when VAR ruled it wasn’t.

Killing the game every weekend

La Liga has a better and much faster VAR system but sadly they don’t have goal line technology so the 3rd Barca goal wasn’t allowed .. we should/could have won and still be in the title race !

i'm a man u fan and i think the coventry goal should have stood. This isn't what var was brought in for

Yes I heard that a few weeks ago .. it was apparently brought it to sort out a few issues but originally offside was never even mentioned

I'm not sure what the reasoning was for not awarding Chelsea a penalty when Grealish clearly moved his arm away from his body and on to the ball.

there are 3 schools of thought. 1. The ball missed him, in which case, there was no penalty and no corner. 2. It did hit him, but "no-one" wants them to lose a game like that - This seems to have been favoured by commentators, and just doesn't make sense 3. It was an obvious penalty.

Var should have easily identified if it hit his arm or not, if it did, it's a penalty

I mean one angle clearly showed it hitting his arm, it even looked like he moved his arm towards the ball intentionally.

They didn’t even give a corner if they felt it wasn’t deliberate

Yeah the angle from where the managers were stood clearly showed the ball’s direction changed as well - so there was definitely contact ( unless Jack Grealish has a personal force-field)

In a game as tight as that was, a goal for Chelsea would have been huge at that point. We did waste so many chances, but City weren't exactly the better team on the day. It's a real kick in the teeth. Chelsea have nothing to play for now this season. Will be interesting to see how they get on. All i know is Jackson needs major improvement, he works hard but he's not a finisher.

Swan 22-04-2024 12:14 PM

Wait, will 6th position mean anything if Villa win the European Conference thing?

bots 22-04-2024 12:20 PM

the top 7 places get into europe i think, but they keep changing the rules, so it gets difficult to follow

True but he is very young ( just 22) and playing in the hardest position .. in a struggling team

I think he will be a top player eventually

Supposedly on the Match of the Day highlights show they edited out that late disallowed Coventry goal and went to the penalty shootout !!

That’s ridiculous

It's somewhat realistic Chelsea can finish 6th. If we win our game in hand over Utd and Newcastle we'll be level on points. Though our game in hand is Arsenal tomorrow, so i doubt that.

He was great in pre season, scoring left right and centre. Im think there's a 50/50 chance he'll come good. I never optimistic when it comes to Chelsea strikers anymore though.

Darren Bent really rates Jackson and compares him to Nunez for his movement, making space for others .. and finishing

Been to a few championship games this year and yes its brilliant, no hanging around waiting to see who will find a way to rule it out

The technology should not need humans to draw lines over players feet

Zizu 22-04-2024 05:23 PM

With the top 3 all coughing and spluttering I am thinking that the first one who hits top form again will take the league ..

My bet is Liverpool who have FIVE strikers .. Salah , Jota (looking good the other day) Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo .

So any one of them could suddenly catch fire and change the upcoming games

If the anti VAR movement gains momentum, it could be suspended next season.
