I think that is only if there is no majority in the Electoral College.

.....Can members of Congress block the results?

There is no debate permitted during the counting of the electoral votes. But after the result is read, members of Congress get one opportunity to lodge their concerns.

Any objection to a state’s results must be made in writing and be signed by at least one senator and one member of the House. The two chambers would then separate to debate the objection. Each member of Congress can speak only once — for five minutes — and after two hours the debate is cut off. Each body then votes on whether to reject the state’s results.

Since the Electoral Count Act was passed in 1887, there have been just two instances of congressional objections, in 1969 and 2005. Neither passed either the House or the Senate.

What’s the likelihood of Congress changing the outcome?

Stopping Mr. Biden from assuming office remains a long-shot strategy for Republicans.

For an objection to stand, it must pass both houses of Congress by a simple majority. If the vote followed party lines, Republicans could not block Mr. Biden’s victory.

Democrats control the House, so an objection would already be doomed there. In the Senate, Democrats would need to pick off only a couple of Republicans to side with them to vote down the objection. A number of Republican senators have declared Mr. Biden the president-elect.

With some Trump allies already planning objections, the congressional session is likely to make for good political theater. But the process has little chance of changing the outcome of the election.

Anyone can raise an objection in either house to a result, but it requires a majority in both houses to then be debated, and that's not going to happen. I fully expect the gop to complain about the swing states, but it will be futile

How about declaring Marshall law and arresting all those who were going to cast those electoral college votes?

Then there will be militias , armed to the teeth to descend on the White House to form a ring of steel to protect the only true president, so that usurper from the UNDemocratic Party will never get near it. God bless the 7th Amendment...

You do realise Trumo ****ed the military over which led to Biden winning a lot of Military votes he would have never won? They ain't protected that ugly obese terracotta turtle in any situation

Is there any? Like can you show anyone that there was fraud?

You'll never get any proof, just excuses as to why they can't present it.

Republicans and their supporters are sore losers that are looking to eradicate democracy because it didn't go their way.

the republicans just spout the same mis information out repeatedly. Everything that trump tweets has already been debunked in court - multiple times. It will go on for 4 years

Trump will continue to vomit out absurd rants and allegations because he's a pathetic little orange that can't take an L :idc:

Not at all they shouldn't, I agree Mock.

Actually, all his rubbish post this election, plus his inability to ever admit he has lost or that people should think he lost too, just demonstrates why he was unfit to be a President of any Nation, never mind the USA.

January will be welcome for the finally seeing off and out of this deservedly only one term President.

I agree with you 100% Joey.

He is jeopardizing USA's democracy and yet we have some people on here calling the Democrats the Undemocratic Party for daring to win the election.

there will be a big shake up after this election. The gop will split into 2 parties the moment Trump is out of power and the radicals will be left behind with Trump

They won't. They're all radicals, and anyone with ambitions in US right wing politics won't get anywhere without the crazies. Republicans have been heading in this direction since Reagan. Trump isn't an aberration to split the party, he embraced where they wanted to go.

Kizzy 15-12-2020 12:55 PM

Yep agree. .. like Boris.
He's dragged the UK kicking and screaming further and further right. He's Thatcher on acid although he doesn't own the evil decisions he makes like she did.

Yeah, they should just react the way you reacted to the last President, I can't remember you being sick then.

Be careful what you say, because Toy Soldier might get sick of your bitterness and call you a whingey little Cuck.
