If you want a PS4 on day one, pre-order on Amazon now. They're probably gonna run out of their alloted stock soon.
|
Bet the games are stupidly priced again at launch. 360 games were £50. £50?!

Yes |
The game prices that are currently on Amazon are just a placeholder price, Sony hasn't told them the actual price yet.

Aye, they'll come down in time though, half the reason the prices are higher is because there is less people to sell to.

Decent launch line up.
Probably won't get one until next summer though, at least. |
Short video of the PS4 UI. Looks nice. Much better than the XMB. Anything beats that dire, outdated, thing though. |
If anybody has pre-ordered a PS4 in store at GAME emails are now being sent out to tell you if you'll get one on launch. Or they will ring you.
Unsure about online orders. |
T'would appear a PS4 will round out my WiiU and SteamBox as my Next gen trio.
Now just a case of deciding which goes to Uni and which stays at home for weekend play :S |
Driveclub has now been delayed to next year, Contrast will now be the free PS+ launch game. To be honest, not too bothered about this delay as I wasnt really too interested in another car game. I'm gonna get Killzone at launch.

the 500gb hard drive's will be rendered useless soon enough |
Apparently games will install to the hard drive as you play, and games that you havent played for a while will uninstall (but it doesnt really matter, as when you load it back up you can play pretty much straight away while it reinstalls)

I've realised that alot of Both Title Games are being shown with PS4 footage rather than Xbox One footage. Throw in the fact that apparently the new COD can only be portrayed in 720p on Xbox One and I think the PS4 does look like it is going to be better.

The Xbox One is simply put less hardware for more money.
Microsoft can appear to reverse some of their restrictions and talk of having a two way conversation with their customers all they want but it was designed from the ground up to control your living room and sustain a digital distribution environment that says "fuck you, you don't own shit." The consumer would be insane to buy into it. I cannot honestly see how they are going to pull themselves out of the hole they have dug for themselves. Either the restrictions will worsen as time goes on or they will fall away completely because of panic and the console will just become an overpriced, ill defined second option to the cheaper, more dev friendly competitor that all your friends are playing on. The Xbox One will obviously have a great selection of in house games at some point in it's future but I would be very surprised if it lasts half the time or creates a quarter of an impact the 360 did. Microsoft have already taken this thing back to the drawing board. I honestly think they'll cut their losses and call time on it within 3-5 years and replace it with a cheaper, open platform system that takes it's cues from the likes of Steam and smartphone gaming. The trust of the hardcore gamer is lost and the Wii has the family market sewn up. They can make a play for some of the billions up for grabs in the market for ordinary people who want quick hit, fun gaming on their phones. Market a console-as-accessory and not one as the living room dominating giant black box for people who want to play serious games and micro manage every aspect of their evenings entertainment. |
Good point, I can definately see Microsoft leaving the console market if the console doesn't impress the investors, there's a lot more money for Microsoft in other markets.
Edit: Update about the Xbox One/Call of Duty embargo drama, apparently the reason for the delayed reviews is something other than the fact Xbox can only run it in 720p
