Did anyone else notice that Emmet was sitting down during the HoH competition? certainly that must be against the rules.

Donovan. 06-04-2013 03:43 PM

Yeah I don't even understand how that competition was difficult or challenging. Maybe at most it was hell on their ankles, but not really their arms. I've only seen the bit on the live show, so maybe most of the competition was sloped downward, but that type of challenge works much better up high.

The housemates mentioned on live feed that night that Emmett was disqualified from the comp. I imagine it was for just that, sitting down, but I don't know why he was not told to stand like everyone else if that was the case.

I didn't look hard to us from a viewer standpoint, but the girls were cold enough to claim hypothermia in the end. The water coming down was freezing cold and they stood under it for hours

I completely forgot about the water and wind, I was just thinking that the actual competition looked a bit pointless because it wasn't lifted. Is the ceiling in the backyard too low for a raised competition like the pirate ship from BB14?

Yes, I think because they have made an indoor backyard due to winter conditions, they are limited in the scope of the competition structures. They just aren't as big as BBUS's. I also never saw the first season of BBUS, so I don't know if they started with smaller comps and built on the idea's over the seasons.

lostalex 06-04-2013 07:53 PM

Was BBUS season 1 in a different place than it is now?

Donovan. 06-04-2013 08:52 PM

Yeah the house moved after BB5 and that's when we got a 2 floor house. It didn't move far though, it was just across the LA river on the same CBS studio lot.

Season 1 followed the UK format, but the budget didn't really show on competitions until season 6/7 - not that they looked cheap at the time, but now looking back they kind of do.

I think the issue with this HoH comp is the US have done similar ones before (at least 2-3 times) which involved people on a ledge holding on to a rail, but the ledge was much narrower and the conditions seems more extreme. This may look a lot better in the edit on Sunday but just looked poor on live TV for 5 minutes.

yea the minute i saw it, it reminded me of BBUS10 the one where it was like an earthquake, and Dan gave inspiration speeches to everyone.

This episode...

The way the housemates were talking post challenge, it was the worst one yet for difficulty, despite the fact that the ledge seemed quite large.

That comp looked like torture :o I definitely wouldn't have lasted that long

Jack_ 08-04-2013 01:39 AM

That's disgusting :yuk: but this comp is <33

Producers have been watching BBUK I think

Jack_ 08-04-2013 01:46 AM

You have to commend Peter for that, good job

Emmett too tbf

Macie Lightfoot 08-04-2013 01:53 AM

...it was a ****ing salad.

JTM45 08-04-2013 02:06 AM

So glad Jillian wasn't swayed by Alec's threats and went with the only sensible decision for her two nominations!
Topaz is going to feel like such a massive fool when she gets out and hears what Alec has been saying about her.
For me Alec has definitely been the most repulsive houseguest in the whole season. He makes my skin crawl.:yuk:

Macie Lightfoot 08-04-2013 02:14 AM

Yes, salad's such a foreign food. Cherry tomatoes oh my.

Why is it so impossible for people to put aside their dislike of someone for a minute and have a bit of common ****ing decency...Christ almighty

JTM45 08-04-2013 02:19 AM

I think, judging by his chosen diet, Peter was probably just a spoilt child who was never encouraged to eat a good and balanced diet and was just given chicken nuggets and pizza to stop him throwing a tantrum!
If he had a genuine food aversion he would not have been able to eat that salad at all, let alone keep it down afterwards.

Yeah, which isn't his problem or own doing

Macie Lightfoot 08-04-2013 02:24 AM

Yes, Peter must have had such traumatic experiences with salads cherry tomatoes any every other food except for chicken nuggets and pizza and the few other things he likes to it  please, he's just picky and probably self-diagnosed himself to avoid the embarrassment.
