There's really no question that some elderly people will die as a result of under-heated homes, and plenty of children will be going cold (and hungry) as well. I find it horrifying really. We have a decent household income now and it's still distinctly uncomfortable; if this had been happening 10 years ago we'd have been completely ****ed. No two ways about it really. It wouldn't just have been hard or a stretch - we simply wouldn't have been able to pay the bills .

A very succinct example of the unfortunate difference between "can" and "will".

they simply need to stop increasing the cap. No more of this crap about reducing peoples council tax if they are in a particular band range. Nothing else is appropriate

as well as reducing the standing charge and taking VAT off bills that would at least give a little help immediately

He should resign too, he's guilty.

Cherie 26-05-2022 06:19 AM

What a surprise that this is announced the day after Sue Grays report finally hit the deck

It has been worked on for
a month or so.

It must be today
as it is the last day of Parliament.

Another Holiday the MP's have

They could have announced it on Tuesday or waited until they came back...what’s the rush, this won’t kick in until the Autumn by the looks of it

We have had a 119% rise to our energy bills this hear France has had a 4% rise, dk you want to know the difference? France have their energy companies public owned while we sold ours off to let the rich get even more richer at the expense of the poorest

bots 26-05-2022 08:20 AM

we all know they wont offer enough to actually help people, so there is no point getting excited about it. They could easily say we are not going to increase the cap instead of measures that do nothing

Due to it being the last day of Parliament,
it is today like we already know, we do not have to pay back the Energy
Bill,

So the £200 of the bill is Free is Sept now.
