[Rishi Sunak backs JK Rowling's right to free speech as Scotland's hate crime laws come into force: PM says 'people should not be criminalised for stating simple facts on biology' after the author dared police to arrest her for 'misgendering' JK Rowling wrote on social media that a string of trans women were men] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...gendering.html |

But it's definitely a slippery slope, that anybody in this country that genuinely values freedom of speech, shouldn't be supporting this policy imo. |

Tbh I wish JK would leave India alone - she's not a violent criminal, and she's not trying to take spaces in sports or politics belonging to women.
I don't follow the goss on twitter so maybe India is constantly targeting JK though? |

people, quite rightly, are going to push this hard, testing the police and the snp to the limit. It's a big self destruct button for them in the run up to the GE

I've not heard of a single person who thinks this is a good idea.
The Scottish authorities were dumb enough to arrest some youtuber for teaching a dog to raise one paw, so why does anyone think they'll behave sensitively with this new law? Quote:

the problem is though, the way the scottish parliament is set up, those opposed, don't stand a hope in hell of repealing the law

Football pundit Ally McCoist has also given his support to JK Rowling, calling the legislation "madness".
Speaking on TalkSport, external radio, he said he, along with thousands of football fans, will flout the rules during this weekend's Old Firm match between Rangers and Celtic. The ex-Rangers player said: "I can guarantee you, next Sunday at Ibrox, I, along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of that hate bill in the particular Rangers Celtic game we are all going to." Mr McCoist did not say which part of the Hate Crime Bill footballs fans were at risk of breaching. |
