WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump on Monday labeled a sharp drop in the stock market “the Kamala Crash,” linking to the ascension of Vice President Harris as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

“Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe,” Trump, 78, wrote on social media Monday morning — after the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 1,000 points in morning trading after closing down more than 600 points on Friday.

“Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!” Trump added.

The stock market selloff is linked by economists to a weaker-than-expected jobs growth report released Friday morning, which showed 114,000 new positions added to the US economy in July — well below the expected 175,000 jobs — signaling a potential slowdown or recession.

Trump wrote in a subsequent all-caps post: “VOTERS HAVE A CHOICE — TRUMP PROSPERITY, OR THE KAMALA CRASH & GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024, NOT TO MENTION THE PROBABILITY OF WORLD WAR lll IF THESE VERY STUPID PEOPLE REMAIN IN OFFICE. REMEMBER, TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!”

https://nypost.com/2024/08/05/us-new...-kamala-crash/

The stock market slump was caused by Japan's central bank upping their interest rate, and the fact that an awful lot of people who thought they were being clever have been utilising favourable interest and exchange rates between the yen and the $/£ to grow their wealth (and got burned).

Trump shows nowt but contempt for his support base. He believes that they're uninformed and gullible enough to but whatever he says, OR agenda-driven and shrewd enough to play along with his LARPing.

tbf he's not wrong.

Harris has picked Tim Walz as her VP

Liam- 06-08-2024 01:10 PM

The perfect choice

Good pick

He’s done a lot of great stuff in his state and is the antithesis of everything JD Vance stands for, a great speaker, a normal bloke and one of the first people to go out there with the ‘weird’ narrative that is true and working, a very smart choice by Harris and her team

In January 2023, Walz signed the PRO Act (Protect Reproductive Options Act) into law, making abortion a "fundamental right," as well as access to contraception, fertility treatments, sterilization and other reproductive health care.

The law made Minnesota the first state to codify abortion rights in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 ruling in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which nullified Roe. v. Wade after nearly 50 years of precedent.

"Your access to reproductive health and your right to make your own health care decisions are preserved and protected," Walz said during the signing ceremony. "And because of this law, that won't change with the political wins or makeup of the Supreme Court. This is a bill for Minnesota today and all future generations."

…I’ll read more about him but I’m liking the sound of Mr Walz so far…

i've seen him speak on a few news channels and he gets his point across clearly and calmly

Can you imagine having a POTUS and Veep who both thus far seem like normal humans? I'm not joking in saying that I can't think of a time entirely like that in living memory for me :joker:. Obama was a smooth orator to be fair -- but then, we had ol' Biden already in the copilot seat.

This is what the likes of Trump and Vance are going to struggle with. Their "tongue in cheek" sarcasm and retorts played well against Biden, who was constantly stumbling and confused seeming, which made Trump look sharp in comparison.

Doing the same ol' act with people who are responding strongly and clearly is going to make him look petty/silly (which of course, he is).

I've said this before: I think she'll have the Boris Johnson 'joker' appeal, :joker: which in her case probably is a good thing.

She's not serious and I think she may have good diplomatic skills on the world stage. I can't imagine her ever being hard on any country to start a WW3.

I do think she'll win. Trump now looks like the dotty old man. Sorry. :p

I think it was deliberate. They let the republicans stage an entire campaign based on Biden being past it... and then pulled him out, leaving Trump as the old man, with all of those criticisms now sitting at his own feet.

bots 06-08-2024 04:13 PM

She was a very successful prosecutor, so she is deadly serious when she has to be. She also likes to have a bit of fun, hug people and dance making her very approachable and normal

bots 06-08-2024 04:41 PM

decision has been made slim

The Slim Reaper 06-08-2024 04:45 PM

I thought the election was over, but I think after the democratic conference, she'll be ahead (conferences always provide a bounce in polls to both sides).

Added on to the fact, that court cases are now starting to move again. He'll be sentenced for the NY one later this month (I believe), which won't help trump gain any new voters but will more than likely haemorrhage a lot, but as always it will come down to a few thousand votes in a few states. Another country that needs to change it's voting system.
