They'll survive. We have Starmer here as PM and I hate him. But life goes on.

Oh we’ve had a lengthy talk about it in the discord and her and someone else are positively gleeful that a rapist is president.

No moral values

Nicky91 06-11-2024 12:46 PM

my nation's PM his response

There is a difference between hating a politician and said politician being the entry way of your rights being stripped away.

Nicky91 06-11-2024 12:48 PM

will be a better meetup in the white house between Schoof and Trump i think than in 2016 between Mark Rutte and Trump

Glenn. 06-11-2024 12:49 PM

There’s also an American in that discord that posted how upset and worried he is now and they had no idea why.

There’s no decency

Can we not just wait and see what he does before?
Before assuming the worst?

Ignorance to the point of stupidity. Some people can't be helped.

Preach it

Nicky91 06-11-2024 01:05 PM

@arista

I don't believe it's ignorance this time around. This is purely on the centrism that is the perfect bedfellow to fascism. It conditions people to think that nothing better is possible, and that billionaires collecting all the money whilst they can't get healthcare is just how it is. Desperation leads to extremism, and this is the historically repeated, Pavlovian response to desperation.

Dems offered literally nothing, whilst trump was out there saying he wanted to end wars and deport people. he gave folks a reason to vote for him, even if we disagree with those reasons (and also that they were mostly lies).

Nicky91 06-11-2024 01:35 PM

okay i looked up

House of Representatives (with 57 still to be determined)

Republicans: 198
Democrats: 180

Senate

Republicans: 52
Democrats: 42

currently us presidency

Trump: 277
Harris: 224

The Slim Reaper 06-11-2024 01:37 PM

Dems saw this and thought they were on the right track. I said Gaza would depress their vote, and it did by 15-20m votes. Trump set to lose 4m votes from 2020, too, but that's how badly the dems have done.

The Slim Reaper 06-11-2024 01:39 PM

In 2020, Biden carried the district of Dearborn, Michigan, with 88% of the vote.

This time around:

TRUMP 45%
STEIN 33%
HARRIS 15%

Nicky91 06-11-2024 01:40 PM

20 to go for a win in the house for the republicans

218 is the projected target for a majority

The Slim Reaper 06-11-2024 01:45 PM

Just like Starmer over here, this is how well the dems ignoring a semi-enthusiastic and progressive base, to do outreach the right turned out, and this is what they got to show for it.

Nicky91 06-11-2024 01:58 PM

i'll just give Trump the benefit of the doubt, to see if he can do better on his 2nd term compared to his 1st term

also how surprising that he talked about Melania's book success, considering he usually more talks about himself

My friend went to a polling place to supervise the count overnight as a regular citizen. There was something that went off at that location related to the building so she went to sit in. She was impressed with how well it was all run and how they were hyper-vigilant about making sure they had a representative from each side all throughout the entire process. They were gleeful enough about her participation they invited her to apply to be part of it next time around... the poll people are very lovely, in my experience.

Good To Hear

Maru.

Can I ask you
why is Harris avoiding the Press?

That's because last time Dems cheated. That's why the vote froze for 5 days before they declared sleepy Joe the winner with the most votes in history.

And when they couldn't get away with it this time, it was back to running smoothly and settled on the night.

Treason.

I imagine she is really upset. As soon as she concedes, it's going to be a bloodbath (for her, possibly), so better to let people get used to it and give herself breathing room...
