Chamakh is quality.

Okay maybe we wont, if Adebayor does leave, i think we will, if you haven't already signed him.

Lauren 04-07-2009 01:10 PM

I hope Adebayor doesn't leave Arsenal, he's my fave footballer in the EPL (minus any Sunderland players), and I like him at Arsenal because I have a soft spot for them.

Well done Lauren.

I like Adebayor a lot i feel sorry for him over what the fans and other teams fans have been like toward him, hes a great player, and people always seem to say otherwise.

I prefer Van Perise though, and Think Arshavin could maybe be our top scorer.

Real Madrid have reportedly offered Alvaro Negredo and cash to Liverpool in exchange for midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Liverpool custodian Pepe Reina has declared that only a very large sum of money will tempt the club to sell any player, as coach Rafa Benitez wants to hang onto his current squad.

Manchester City are not a side who are afraid of rejection. According to reports, they are preparing to table a third bid for Chelsea's John Terry.

Liverpool have identified Gokhan Inler has a possible replacement for either Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, one of which looks likely to leave Anfield this summer.

But Rafa Benitez is reluctant to meet Udinese's asking price of £18m (€21m).

Everton are ready to make a double swoop. Manager David Moyes has targeted Cardiff City's Joe Ledley and Fulham's Clint Dempsey, both of whom have rejected contract extensions from their respective clubs.

Arsenal's interest in Marouane Chamakh appears to have cooled after AC Milan ended their pursuit of Emmanuel Adebayor, and Sunderland could steal in with a £12m bid.

Real Madrid are said to be preparing to pounce for Chelsea and England player Ashley Cole after he rejected the offer of a new contract at Stamford Bridge due to a disagreement over wages.

Felipe Melo is dominating the headlines today! Fiorentina now claim that Arsenal are in the hunt, and will use Emmauel Eboue as a makeweight in order to ease negotiations!

Lauren 04-07-2009 02:41 PM

Wow, Real want Alonso now? Haha

Edit: And Ashley Cole. Jeeeesus.

Locke. 04-07-2009 02:44 PM

Don't think they'll get Alonso unless they offer around 30 million.

That pic is great haha, thanks David. *runs off to rub it in Newc fans faces*

Rumours suggesting that Real have... 350m to spend this summer. They've only spent about... 200m so far? Or am I completely wrong?

Locke. 04-07-2009 02:59 PM

Ronaldo - 80 Million
Albiol - 15 Million
Kaka - 70 Million (I think)

That's all they've signed isn't it? So that's around 165 million spent.

Benzema too which was.... 30-35m

Lauren 04-07-2009 03:21 PM

AC Milan have only sold ~400 season tickets.

Probably because of departure of Kaka and potential departure of Pato.

andyman 04-07-2009 03:45 PM

400 tickets?!?! Low...

And if Alonso wants to go, he can fek off...

Viola eye Melo-Eboue swap

Fiorentina suggest deal could be struck with Arsenal

Fiorentina have released a statement revealing they would be willing to negotiate the sale of Felipe Melo to Arsenal with Emmanuel Eboue involved in a potential swap deal.

Brazil international Melo had been strongly linked with the Gunners only to put pen-to-paper on a contract extension at the Viola on 30th June.

A buy-out clause, said to be €25million (£21.4m), has been included in Melo's new deal and recent reports have suggested Juventus could match that fee.

However, Fiorentina have claimed Arsenal remain the only side to have made an offer that comes close to activating the midfielder's sale clause.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, in denying the transfer rumours of the past few hours, which sees Felipe Melo definitely at other clubs and reporting potential meetings to finalise the transfer of the player, underlines the following:

"In case the footballer has already reached an agreement with any club, the release clause fixed with the player himself is €25million. We would not contemplate any exchange, unless it is to the liking of Fiorentina.

"Arsenal is the only club to have come close to the sum established by the release clause.

"Fiorentina in turn proposed to the aforementioned club a reduction in the amount set by the release clause by including right-back (Emmanuel) Eboue in the deal."

Eboue, who signed for the Gunners from Beveren in 2005, has recently grown unsettled at Emirates Stadium and has not ruled out an exit.

Owen to score against liverpool

Novo 04-07-2009 04:31 PM

eltic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has admitted that his personal life affected his performances last season.

"Never mind if you are a worker in a factory or you are a goalkeeper playing in front of thousands of people every week," he said.

"If you have personal problems, it will affect you at work."

However, he insisted that his form was not poor - it was just a case of the errors he did make being punished in a way they were not previously.

Boruc made a number of high-profile blunders, most famously when he mis-kicked a pass-back and allowed Northern Ireland to claim a 3-2 win over Poland.

The 29-year also found himself in trouble for breaching disciplinary rules for club and country following the break-up of his marriage.

"I don't accept all this talk that I'm in bad form," he said.

Lauren 04-07-2009 04:38 PM

The mis-kicked pass-back against Norn Iron was the funniest football blooper EVER.

andyman 05-07-2009 04:46 AM

Lauren... :flowers:

Hope Sunderland stay up, they are the big boys of the north east now..

Lauren 05-07-2009 04:47 AM

Aw thanks andy lol, are you in a nicer mood with me now?

Locke. 05-07-2009 10:09 AM

Sunderland will be in the relagation battle again unless they can get another striker who can score goals. Steve Bruce needs to act fast.

Locke. 05-07-2009 11:05 AM

Not for the first time this summer, Real Madrid look set to give up in their chase for a player, namely Xabi Alonso. According to Sport, Los Merengues are unwilling to pay the €50 million that Liverpool are demanding for the midfielder.

:spin:

If John Terry wants to join Manchester City, new manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly said he must hand in a written transfer request and City must up their offer to £45 million.

Barcelona are weighing up a move for Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin, according to a report. It's claimed that the Russian is unsettled at the Emirates, prompting the Blaugrana to revisit their interest in him.

30stone 05-07-2009 12:08 PM

Arshavin wont leave lol.

Locke. 05-07-2009 12:08 PM

Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Liverpool's Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano. Mascherano's departure looks imminent after he fell out with Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez towards the end of last season.

New Manchester United striker Michael Owen has revealed how he would have taken a £100,000 pay cut to rejoin old club Liverpool.

Manchester United winger Nani fears for his future at the club following the arrival of Antonio Valencia. Both Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are interested in the Portuguese 22-year-old.

New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is set to be handed a transfer kitty of £60m when he officially takes over on Monday. Chelsea could use some of that cash to make a move for Real Madrid winger Wesley Sneijder.

Newcastle United are lining up a double swoop for Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell and Manchester City forward Ched Evans.

Liverpool will have to battle it out with Real Madrid for Valencia midfielder David Silva.

Everton manager David Moyes is lining up a move for Manchester United's veteran midfielder Paul Scholes.

Everton's Australian midfielder Tim Cahill has told friends he fancies a move to Italy or Spain as he is fed up with the rain in England.

Sunderland appear to have won the race for £14m rated England striker Crouch.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is lining up a £4m bid for Norway striker Moa Abdellaoue from Valarenga.

New Manchester United striker Michael Owen says he was made to feel like a "criminal" at former club Newcastle because of all his injury problems at St James' Park.

Kore 05-07-2009 12:11 PM

I still cant believe Owen has gone to United. I think Fergie got a good deal there. Free transfer n all that.
