OMG Really?
I havent been keeping track of the Ratings this week, what happened?

Have we dropped to 2 Million?
I really thought this series could stay at 3 Million the entire series, maybe its because of Sov going ratings have dropped?

Or because C4 keep ****ing up the times every night because of that Indian ****, there was no need for it to be on at 8 Again tonight but they had to for Slumdog Millionaire?

Seriously.
CBB Is going over for good this week, and they feel some Indian Film is more important than a show that has made C4 for years.

No not really. +1 hasnt been known for any shows since Thursday

EXCLUDING +1
thursday- 2.7m (will be round 3m with +1)
friday (1) and (2)- 3.1m and 3.0m (will be probably 3.4m and 3.3m)
saturday- 2.1m (will probably be 2.5m+ with +1)

So basically last nights C4 only of +1 was quite poor. But its still doing really good.

I meant how many viewers its lost since launch. I guess the launch show was artificially inflated with people watching because of the last one, the ad campaign and out of curiosity and not people who were still genuinely interested in watching the show.

CBB6 and BB10 both lost 2.2m between launch and the final. CBB7 will probably make a similar loss, for the same loss the second show on Friday will have to average 4.1m.

With massive hope, I hope the 2nd show can break 5m. Did you hear the radio this morning? Im sure that Chris Moyles Show gets like 7m listeners, he kept going on about for ages about how cocky Vinnie Jones has been./... thats good promotion, especially as people always does what he says...

*mazedsalv** 25-01-2010 09:59 AM

A few ratings INCLUDING +1

Thursday- 2.9m
Friday(1)- 3.3m
Friday(2)- 3.2m

Tom 25-01-2010 10:27 AM

Another 2.1m rating for last night, although I'm expecting that had a massive timeshift due to DOI

But still, we've hit BB10 levels after starting above BB9 levels. I don't get how people haven't stuck with this series, I've loved it

I know :(
It was doing SO well until C4 mucked up the slots.

So I guess it will probably match or even be less than CBB6 average, as you said the week needs to average about 2.7m for it to fall to CBB6 official average.

I really hope the 9pm shows this week saves the ratings.

Also, its useful to note that not only is it the slots, but Sovs departure has brought down the ratings a lot. As well as Stephens and Sisqos departure.

*mazedsalv** 25-01-2010 11:08 AM

Saturday with +1:
2.5m

Added about 450,000 on +1, good going!!
200,000 down on last week.

Sunday with +1:
2.6m

Added about 500,000 on +1.

OVERNIGHT AVERAGES:
Week 1- 3.7m
Week 2- 3.3m
Week 3- 3.0m

When officials are released all of them will be above the 3.3m average of CBB6 so all is good :)

That's another long term problem they've never shown any interest in fixing - the fall between the launch audience and episode 2. Other shows wouldn't accept it, so why did BB and C4, especially when the fall could have been reduced by setting up a better narrative at the end of the launch show to encourage people back to episode 2, and then by tweaking the second episode to cut the half-hour recap of launch night from Marcus, and probably in most cases having a twist unveiled live too to give it added importance.

They should have built the series around the key and introduced it on launch night, or had a plan B for the mini task. When they have a plan B (e.g. cake thing) then it works really well. They could have had the launch over in 10 minutes by doing something as simple as a freeze frame when the housemate opens the door with the caption "Stephanie Beacham, 62, Actress", any remarkable moments from then (such as 'thank god for abortion'), then flames and onto the next person.

I don't think its the drop to episode 2 thats the problem- the problem is the amount of people who continue to watch rather than just thinking "I don't think I'll bother" on launch night. You could never expect up to 6m to watch the first highlights show. Because generally there are probably about 4-5m people watching this year, just not every night. And you can't make them watch every night, no show can manage that not even X Factor.

And just a bit of random info about Davina's other show, it got 0.9m which is really good for 6pm on Sky. It was slightly ahead of the Glee repeat on C4. It was a good show, I'm glad its doing well and Davina should have something to go back to next year.

Brekkie 25-01-2010 07:15 PM

Glee doing much better on E4 than C4 - don't know really why they're giving it a Sunday evening slot on C4 where The OC and Shipwrecked have failed before it - much better in the afternoon on T4. Anyway, in their wisdom C4 pitting Glee and BB against each other tonight, so both will probably be hit.

Back to the launch show and I think one of the biggest problems is probably one of it's biggest assets - it's live. If they sent the HMs in a couple of days before hand they can set things up better so there is enough in the first episode to get you back for the second.

DigitalSid 26-01-2010 11:13 AM

3.1 million last night, including the impressive 534,000 who tuned in on +1.

daniel-lewis-1985 26-01-2010 11:48 AM

YAY!!! Its back on form :)

Nothing stopping them doing that and then having a live launch anyway. Davina doesn't interact with the housemates so they could have her presenting a show from the studio whilst introducing the housemates as they enter etc and providing a bit of narrative. They don't have to enter live- but whilst we're introduced to them all and watch the first day or so of highlights, Davina could go live to the house/Big Brother dropping the first twist on them.

Celeb BB has always been best suited at 9-10pm because its more mainstream than BB itself, whilst BB has been suited best at 10-10.50pm. I really hope we lose that 20-25 minutes in the summer, it was so much better when it ended at 10.50pm. 11.05 should be the very latest.

It should also just stick to the one slot on certain days, for example Monday-Wednesday at 10pm, Thursdays-Sundays at 9pm.

Tom 27-01-2010 10:14 AM

Last night got 3.4m. It beat the Amanda Holden thing on ITV at the same time (BB got 3m at 9)

Shameless did v well, got 3.7m in total

DigitalSid 27-01-2010 01:42 PM

D.S. aren't adding +1.

*mazedsalv** 27-01-2010 03:12 PM

It got 3.3m.

It came 2nd in its slot beating ITV1 which got around 2.6m for Amanda Holdon's Show. And Survivors got 3.6m on BBC1 which is awful! BB nearly beat it :).. cant believe tehre was only a 300,000 people gap between BBC1 and C4 competing for top slot.

Shameless did brilliantly at the 10pm slot getting 3.7m.... the share must have been very high!

That's true. For the first celeb series they sent the HMs into the house in the morning then had a live show with nominations that night, which worked really well. And I'm a Celeb do it that way of course.

It's all about the packaging - launch with a standard Marcus narrated highlights show and it wouldn't work, but package it right (as BBUSA do) and it would be fine.

Few random stats to chuck in regarding Friday's final rating

Overnights

BB8- 5.1m (up 1.5m on series average of 3.6m)
BB9- 4.9m (up 1.6m on series average of 3.3m)
CBB6- 3.5m (up 0.5m on series average of 3m)
BB10- 2.9m (up 0.7m on series average of 2.2m)

Officials

BB8- 5.4m (up 1.5m on BB8 average of 3.9m)
BB9- 5.2m (up 1.6m on BB9 average of 3.6m)
CBB6- 3.9m (up 0.6m on CBB6 average of 3.3m)
BB10- 3.4m (up 0.9m on BB10 average of 2.5m)

So we can assume from that that with the series average likely to end up at 3.2m, 4-4.5m is most likely? Could maybe push up to 4.7m depending on amount of casual viewers who aren't watching every night. Officials could just touch on 5m but we don't know that average yet (probably about 3.5m).

Brekkie 28-01-2010 12:11 PM

I do think we'll see a healthier figure for the final as I do think like earlier series interest in this series does go beyond those who watch it everynight (unlike last year's efforts). Difficult to predict though - certainly won't top the launch show, and again could be anything from 3.5m-5.5m.

I'll place my bets on the first show being around 3.9m, with the second around 4.5m. What is certainly working in it's favour is it's the most open series for years - Vinnie, Dane and Alex have all been the bookies favourite in the last few days, Stephanie is topping a few polls whilst I don't think Jonas can be ruled out either.
