I always learn something.

It is very unusual music from you, BB_Eye.
When I was young, I used to dance cha cha with this tune. :)

I remember it from the movie La Dolce Vita. Nina Rota, who composed the movie's score even did his own (excellent) arrangement for it.

I heard this tune hour ago on a TV advert.

My goodness, the first time I heard this song, I was a teenager!

Cliff Richard And The Shadows The Young Ones

That is definitely Cliff Richard at his most bearable.

So you are not keen on him then?:D

Today's Remy's thread reminded me of this.

He's not so bad there. :D
I'm impressed with the sound quality by the way.

This is an early Phil Spector number. I think it has a strangely eerie sound to it despite being a cheerful 50's pop song.

Offenbach - Barcaroll, from "The Tales of Hoffmann."

BB_Eye 08-07-2010 11:30 PM

Not familiar with Offenbach... very lively orchestration.

I saw their names on a paper yesterday. (Farewell tour?)

Wonderful... it's hard to believe this year is the Schumann's 200th birthday. He'll be getting a lot of attention at BBC Proms.

This one is probably lighter than Offenbach or Johann Strauss, but I listen to him quite a lot. Not to be confused with his father J.S. Bach.

It was so~ hot yesterday. I wished I was near the sea.

Father, yes (may be just one I know) but J.C. Bach is not familiar at all.

I did not know about 200th birthday.
Regarding BBC Proms, I have been to Royal Albert Hall once, it was around late 1980s. I accompanied my nephew from Japan who liked classical music. He plays violin as a hobby.

This was one of the programme that day.

Sadly I can't make it to the Proms this year, maybe I'll make a point of his next year. I have yet to go to the Royal Albert Hall

I think an outdoor concert is fun as well.
Some years ago, I had a picnic with my neighbours at Kenwood Park in London. Every summer they have concerts at beside lake.
We checked their programme and picked the day Buena Vista Social Club performed . They were all the way from Havana.
We could not see the stage of course, but clearly we could hear their music and had a fantastic time.
