Lots of people say it’s their least favourite season ever (or second after RI), but while I definitely don’t think it’s great, I don’t think it’s bad either! I think it also helps that I really liked Clay, Helen and Jan and they made it to the final episode  I’d give it a 5/10, and in my season ranking I have it at the top of the seasons that are in orange

Also, Amazon is a fantastic season if you’re going in chronological order and watching it next :clap1:

I love Jan (and Helen has her moments but I just can’t fully like her idk why) so maybe that has helped a little. Besides Shii-Ann/Ghandia/Jan though I’ve found the cast pretty uninspiring (Ken and Helen will probably be light green in my end of series rankings).

I think I am going to watch in order (I say now :joker:) so I’ll be looking forward to it

Yeah Thailand is a peak example of a season that was The Worst Ever at its time but has since been elevated to like...... slightly below mid-tier if not higher just because of how much the show has decomposed over the years. Also see: TAR8, BBUS4 (which I would both easily have in my top half now? :joker:)

Daniel-X 08-07-2020 05:34 PM

Finished Thailand! Overall, it was slightly better than I anticipated tbh but it was a bit of a slog to get through, particularly post-merge. Shii-Ann, Ghandia and Robb were the three biggest characters at the start so to lose all three was definitely detrimental to the season. I will say though I thought the final tribal council was pretty good for such a boring season  the jury were so bitter. The Chuay Ghan boys made it too far as well, I couldn’t stand any of them. Onto Amazon next...

1. Shii-Ann
2. Ghandia
3. Jan
4. Helen
5. Ken

6. Penny
7. Robb
8. Jake
9. Tanya
10. Erin
11. Jed
12. Stephanie
13. John

14. Ted
15. Brian
16. Clay

I didn’t want to say in case you didn’t want spoilers, and you probably realised anyway but I’m talking about Helen’s 5 minute rant at Brian and Clay here  Even Jeff having to intervene :skull:

Amazon is a great season and my favourite of the pre-All Stars seasons  My ranking of the cast would probably have everyone in green bar the bottom 2, it’s *that* good :clap1:

Macie Lightfoot 08-07-2020 05:53 PM

Amazon is absolutely hysterical and a top three season xx

Yes I loved Helen’s speech, so bitter and the fact she just kept repeating ‘hearsay?’ in Brian’s face lmao  Ted was also pretty good too in his and Brian fluffing all of Penny’s questions made me laugh :joker:

Oh I’m very excited then  hopefully Amazon will live up to its expectations

Daniel-X 10-07-2020 01:26 AM

So I’ve started BvsW, only because I like watching a more modern season after an old one but I’ll definitely be watching Amazon soon! I’m four episodes in and it’s been pretty great so far! I really like the majority of the cast so far, in fact I only dislike Colton and he’s already gone (even Brad is great to hate if you don’t take him too seriously he’s really funny :joker:). Candice on RI is everything I need too.

Matthew. 10-07-2020 01:21 PM

The Culpeppers  Monica is hilarious, quotable, and rootable and Brad is a really fun villain too :clap1:

Daniel-X 12-07-2020 02:33 PM

Finished the pre-merge of BvsW, it’s actually been pretty good so far but the boot order has stung a lot  Candice, John, Brad, Marissa and Laura B out already?!?! Cancel it!

Not even one of those was a terrible loss from what I can remember

Unfortunately (like many seasons tbh :() this season has definitely taken a turn post-merge. I just cannot fully back anybody left in the F7 (not including Tina/Vytas/Laura M currently on RI) atm, the last episode with Ciera’s dilemma about voting Laura out was sooooo dull.

Also this is the first season I’m watching with the RI twist and why the hell is it still a thing post-merge :skull: it was cute as a pre-merge thing but I just do not see why it’s still an aspect of the game at this point.

Matthew. 13-07-2020 02:26 PM

Redemption Island always lasts for the whole season, with someone coming back in the merge episode and someone coming back in the finale.

I really don’t like the twist either, however the BvW edition is probably my favourite for giving us moments like **** You Brad Culpepper and a funny moment you’ll see in the next episode

MB. 13-07-2020 02:34 PM

It's my understanding that Probst's reasoning for letting twists like RI last beyond the merge, and by extension for the entire season, is that one of his core beliefs as a producer is that a twist has to have some sort of payoff in the finale (e.g. someone coming back into the game) to justify its existence

Hence, I guess, the finalists of Ghost Island and Island of the Idols being shunted off to their respective islands together on day 36-or-so for seemingly no reason

The final :skull:, it’s ruined this season in a respect for me cos way too much of the episode time focuses on the duels. We’ve had no rewards shown, not much interaction really to give us enough insight on different characters and no actual reward challenges :skull:. It’s sucked up way too much of the airtime, and I actually think I would’ve really enjoyed this season if it didn’t.

And ugh Probst literally has the worst ****ing opinions on everything :skull:

I've said it many times, but Blood vs. Water is nothing more than A Season Of Survivor. It's the most glaring example of a median season if the franchise has one.

That being said, I somehow long for the days of BvW given how much the show has become a complete parody of itself, but that's a whole different conversation :)

Macie Lightfoot 13-07-2020 09:39 PM

That being said, you should definitely cleanse your palette by watching Amazon now :) It's basically the BBUK6 of Survivor where just about everyone is overwhelmingly negative and the one person with an overly positive person is actually an unbearable demon

The last two episodes have been a vast improvement in quality but the episodes this season have been so hit and miss. Hayden/Ciera/Katie was a GREAT underdog alliance to support, particularly Hayden and Ciera and I’m gutted Hayden is gone . I’ll wait till I’ve watched the finale tomorrow to give a final opinion on the season as a whole though.

Daniel-X 14-07-2020 12:58 PM

Finished Blood vs Water. Overall opinions on the season are a little varied, some episodes were great and others were really shoddy. I think RI definitely impacted the season narrative a lot and we could’ve had a really gripping season with some great characters and story arcs. Tyson dominated the game so I guess he deserved his win but idk, I wasn’t a fan in Tocantins or HvsV but this was best showing and I’m still not sold.

Rankings:

1. Hayden
2. Candice
3. Ciera
4. Tina
5. Brad
6. Monica
7. John
8. Katie
9. Marissa
10. Laura B

11. Laura M
12. Vytas
13. Aras
14. Rupert
15. Caleb
16. Tyson
17. Kat
18. Rachel

19. Gervase
20. Colton

Have you all never met a nice person before?
Have you all never met someone who isn’t selfish?
Have you all never met.... a NEAT LADY?

Enjoy Amazon if you’re going onto it next

:joker: her breaking down at Hayden’s question at FTC made me scream

And yes it’s definitely going to be Amazon next

Daniel-X 15-07-2020 10:29 AM

I’ve only just finished episode two and Christy from Amazon is such a delight as a loveable underdog  a great start to the season so far

Daniel-X 16-07-2020 10:34 PM

Okay so it may be a little premature to say The Amazon is my favourite (I’ve just finished the merge episode) but it’s been stellar so far. Christy/Deena/Heidi/Dave/Matthew/Rob are all great (everyone left brings something a little different to the table though that I like) characters and there’s not been a single dull episode. The preview for next episode with sociopath Matthew sharpening his knife

Matthew. 16-07-2020 11:32 PM

The merge episode is fantastic, with the famous immunity challenge, all the Roger bashing, everything Deena said and did, and Roger being voted out
