I'm not really feeling this season. Everything just feels really bland and beige to me, but maybe things can pick up after the merge (I felt similarly about SJDS at first although that had a better pre-merge than the current season). CeCe was okay and idc about her going but I felt like she could've been a better character with better editing

Idk... I am kind of enjoying this season.
David's possible run of the show without having any social or physical skills makes me laugh.
And having the biggest physical/comp threat being a woman for once, Michaela obviously, is a refreshing change. Looking forward to her individual immunity win era.
There have been plenty of lol moments during the episodes, and I have favs and least favs.... what more are you looking for out of survivor I ask you??

Idk I enjoy both David and Michaela and they're my faves but I don't feel as passionately about them as I have done about my faves in the past (e.g. Alecia from last season)

I actually went off David a bit this episode because of how weak of a competitor he is. I'm finding it hard to root for someone who clearly isn't made out for the show.

This season has been okay. Nothing special, but watchable.

I guess it doesn´t help that Australian Survivor exists now and has shown that Survivor can be done properly, if one wants it enough.

I'm enjoying this season more with every episode, it's nothing spectacular I agree but I like a lot of people and dislike very few which is always a positive thing?

Well by this time last spring, we knew that Scot and Jason were evil and Alecia was a great anti-hero and Cydney was just starting to show signs of greatness, Tai had an insane amount of characterization and focus, and we had OTT Debbie and the least self-aware douches imaginable in Peter and Liz and we were just starting to get some more insight into Aubry and Joe's motivations.

This year... we have Ken as a legitimately complex personality, David had a promising start but he's turning more and more into a gamebot, and then I guess you have Michaela and FigTails. That's it though. Bret is a nobody, Chris is a nobody other than being a college football player, Sunday is a nobody, CeCe was a nobody, Jessica is a nobody, Will is a nobody, Hannah hasn't done much tbh, Jay is pretty much a nobody, Zeke is just a narrator, Adam is just a gamebot, and we know that Michelle is religious. Say what you want about characterization in modern Survivor, but even so this season is still exceptionally poor in that area.

It's annoying because we get a glimpse of what we could be seeing via the secret scenes - Hannah and Michelle praying, Bret talking about the Boston bombings, FigTails bitching about Michaela in earshot of Michaela, Jay being vaguely insightful to name a few. Surely there's stuff they can cut out or reduce , cough cough challenges, instead? Or (and I understand that it'd be impractical for CBS, but it's still one of their biggest shows), surely these swap/merge eps could be stretched to 90 minutes? Do they really have that little faith in their audience's attention span? Does anyone really care that much about Criminal Minds?

Also I agree... cut down on the time they put into the comps, especially in the early episodes, to give more character/tribe development. And yeah, the tribe swap & merge episodes probably should be longer considering there should be more tribe dynamics and new relationships to cover.

Yeah, when they do reward challenges as well as immunity ones, it feels like the whole episode is based around competitions rather than actually getting to see more tribe drama etc. They could definitely crop it a bit or something.
