One question, are the hosts self-aware? Because in Episode 1, Dolores was talking about the newcomers/guests etc and obviously know that they can't be killed whereas they can (I assume)
|
Oh and also, is it just the same day playing out again and again on a loop, with the same storylines but each day something is altered?

The Hosts in the park have no idea that they're not humans living real lives, they think they're as real as the guests (who they don't know are just guests in a theme park). They might be programmed to have a concept of newcomers to their town but definitely not anything regarding the true nature of Westworld. And I think when Dolores mentioned how she loves the newcomers etc she was in one of those interrogation sessions that they don't have any real recollection of anyway. Quote:

I love the set, Ashley :flutter:

Found time to watch the next couple of episodes, I'm really enjoying it. There's some parts of it that I'm not so interested in such as the Westworld "villain" that keeps popping up in every single scene. I just don't understand the point of him, yet... Though I am intrigued by the whole Maeve plot (I was tempted to call it a subplot but they're really delving into it now). Watching the season reminds me a lot of how I felt when I first started watching Orphan Black; I enjoyed it, but the mystery of it all and wanting to know what was going on was what made me want to carry on watching. I'm interested to see how this will all tie up.
One thing I will say is that it'll be nice to see the Dolores/Maeve storylines come together, which I assume will happen at some point. So far they've only shared one scene, though quite a significant one in that. Quote:

Has anyone watched the movie that the show is based on?

They're very different beyond the same basic premise though. |
Is the movie worth watching then?

Was definitely ahead of its time too. |
Episode 5 was good, I quite like how they're switching between Dolores and Maeve with each episode. Like I said, hopefully they cross paths again at some point.
Is Anthony Hopkins supposed to be the protagonist or the antagonist? |

Watched Episodes 6 & 7 this evening, and after that ending I'm enjoying it even more now, and I'm really excited to get into the last few episodes. I did already guess back in the beginning that the workers were hosts as well purely because we never see them outside of the park (and you can't "leave" the park), but it was still an extremely effective scene nonetheless.
Clem's deactivation. She was quite a low-key character but I suppose the purpose of her was to showcase how one-dimensional the hosts really are. That scene between Maeve and Clem where Maeve notices how controlled everything is in the park was really good, too. I'm hoping to finish this tonight as I won't have much time to do so over the weekend. |

Btw I'm glad you've seen that episode now because I wouldn't have wanted to revive my Ford "blood sacrifice" sig until you had. http://78.media.tumblr.com/590a5338a...0wybo1_400.gif Can't wait for your thoughts on the final few episodes! |
Finally finished the series. I must say I was half expecting the plot to come full circle and everything go back to how it was. I have mixed thoughts on the rebellion... One thing I did like about it was Maeve believing she had control over herself, but in actual fact the whole thing was staged by Ford. Her breaking the system to go back and find her daughter was a nice touch, also. But the rest of it just wasn't that gripping for me, and for once I was more interested in Dolores' storyline. The Wyatt reveal was a brilliant twist.
All in all I did find it enjoyable, but like I've said before it was purely my own curiosity that kept me watching. I might rewatch the last episode at some point before the new season begins just to see if there was anything I missed, because I do feel like there's a fair bit I still need to piece together, mainly the Billy/Dolores stuff. I'm definitely glad that there is going to be a second season though. Quote:
And I've already seen that signature before, so I saw it coming. But thank you x |
I loved the Wyatt reveal :clap1: Honestly never crossed my mind until I read it in a fan theory I think the week before the finale.
Actually, that goes for most of the big twists. Most were theorised online (though to be fair so were plenty of wrong ones ) but if I wasn't rabidly following the reddit all season I wouldn't have picked up on them alone (maybe Bernard being a Host). And the final reveal of Ford being on the side of the Hosts I don't think was theorised at all. But yeah I love that there were enough clues there for people to pick up on (as all good mysteries should have) without being glaringly obvious. I have to say I loved how deceptive they were with the editing. I was a big supporter of the William = Man in Black theory so when Dolores ran from home after having a memory of the Man in Black in the barn, followed by the scene of her running into William and Logan I was convinced the theory was wrong and then decided maybe Arnold was the Man in Black  |
