He's looked like that for a long while now. He does say he's struggled for the "last few years" so this explains it. His mental health had deteriorated due to it.

GoldHeart 07-02-2020 10:43 PM

He's looked like that for some time , but I don't watch morning show .

The hot tub comment from Eamonn was quite telling too tbh. Sounds like it's an "arrangement" in their marriage that has been the case for a long time.

I think you will find its nearer 40

I thought people said there was no mention of him playing away.

The last 20 or so years is when it's started getting more accepted widespread, before then you still had a lot of slurs and a lot of comedy shows just using gay people as a joke (even Friends is heavily guilty of this)

Because my dad came out as gay, I always kept an eye on that sort of stuff, and times have gotten easier and easier, even more so in these past 10 years

Ah yes, Section 28 was famously lifted 40 years ago, in 2000

GoldHeart 07-02-2020 11:05 PM

Old comedy shows are of their time & dated ,is anyone surprised they made jokes about it  .

I was more annoyed by the on off relationship of Ross & Rachel , and watching the repeats just confirms how unhealthy their relationship was. And how emotional unstable they both were.

Both got easily jealous & both selfish & hypocritical. My least favourite characters in Friends.

And Ross especially was a very flawed character, if he was a real person he'd need to see a psychiatrist. He's got soo many issues  , and done so many weird things.

Graham Norton rylan Clark Julian clary Eddie izzard and many more all successful gay tv personalities being gay is not a dirty word.

Eddie izzard is not gay. He is a straight transvestite.

For years Izzard has been known as a cross dresser, but didn't he recently identify as something else? Or have I got that wrong ?.

Ah, yes, Rylan Clark who had to come out as a public figure in the 1980s.

Well said Scarlett. People have short memories when it suits them.
Many gays and lesbians felt compelled to pretend they were straight.
Many entered into marriages and made their lives and their spouses lives unhappy to a varying extent.
Just bc it is acceptable now doesnt mean that older people are not still trapped with the consequences of pretending to be straight back then.
