Sort of... but you have to divide the odds by the number of people playing to get the number of likely winners so actually hundreds of people each day will get it on the first guess.

e.g. let's say 2 million people play daily, at odds of 12972/1, you can assume there will be around 150 "winners" (first guesses) on average.

But because of the nature of this game that number will be much higher on days that it's a commonly-guessed word than on days when it's a more obscure word.

Well no, although what does shorten your odds of eventually getting it in 1 is using the same word every day, same as with for example a lotto bet. e.g. your odds of winning £700 with an Irish Lotto bet are (roughly) 700/1... your odds if you play the same numbers every day for 5 years are (almost) a guaranteed win at some point. Of course you'll have spent more on the bets in that time than you actually win, but that's sort of how bookmaking works innit :joker:.
