There's no way this is going to be a Bank Holiday.
for this Lucky win.

It costs too much.

And Wales and Scotland would not be part of this.

Your Dad sounds lovely. My Dad also refereed, only for kids and Sunday league. My Mum went once to watch him referee but got so upset at people calling the ref a w@nker she never went again lol. They were both really involved in everything we were interested in as kids.

Our Dads makes me proud... unlike some of the comments I've read on here from males who just cant seem to stop themselves.

It also cost too much in opposition, didn't stop him calling for one, Scotland already has more bank holidays than England, not sure about Wales

Actually Norther Ireland has 10 bank holidays
Scotland has 9 and England and Wales 8 so there is no precedent for parity between the nations for bank holidays

anyway no need to worry

Downing Street are kicking off the celebrations this afternoon so as long as they get some time off jobs a good one

There isn't a whole lot to celebrate in this country at the moment it would have been good if the government recognised that and this was an opportunity for some positivity....but no

Sound like we both have amazing Dad's. My Dad was both our biggest supporter and biggest critic when we were kids but in the best way. We call him Sport Billy. Since my Mum passed he has taken up walking football and recently Crown Green Bowling. My brothers eldest 2 kids, (boy and girl) both play cricket for the Surrey County team and he is now their biggest supporter too.

Bless your lovely Dad. My Dad was caught in a fire when he was a paramedic, years ago, but it affected his chest... he'd love to be more active but walking the dog is his main thing now. He also turns up with his deckchair to watch the local village play cricket. He will watch any sport on the telly absolutely anything, my poor Mum lol... I think we were both very lucky... my Dad is my hero and he knows it.

Joey Barton being insulting to women again, the penalty miss by him though :laugh2: maybe someone clever can put it on the thread along with his comments

The team has landed
at London Southend Airport

Cherie 28-07-2025 03:52 PM

Sheila Fogerty had a moment as two fire engines rushed forward and sprayed the plane with two arcs of water but it was a tribute rather than an emergency, I hope they were informed on board

Disappointed the team walked straight past the fans who had been waiting for hours, straight onto coaches with blacked out windows.

Really? that's not great, they are being hosted at Downing Street tonight so may be on a tight schedule you would have though Downing Street would have waited a day or two they must be exhausted

I'd rather they'd spent three minutes with the fans and kept Angela Rayner waiting.

I thought that, it's ridiculous. They were still doing media nearly 3 hours after the final last night, they fly straight home today and straight off to Downing Street. If I was them I'd like to stay in Switzerland for a couple of days and enjoy some time there without the tournament dominating everything

Starmer is the footie fan would have made more sense for him to host them, and they ended up changing at Southend it all seems very rushed, I am pretty sure its the last thing they wanted to do, they seemed very flat as they got off the Coach at Downing Street

MTVN 28-07-2025 06:23 PM

Rayner didn't even bother coming out to greet them and for photos
